A hot topic of debate in the NFL over the last few years has been about concussions, and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones knows first-hand the effects of head injuries from playing the game. Appearing as a guest on the new NBC Sports Network show Costas Tonight, Jones said he had suffered "50 concussions" during his playing career. Jones was responding to a segment earlier in the show where former San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots safety Rodney Harrison addressed the struggles that players with head injuries go through. Jones said that, had he not had so many concussions, he would have been the President of the United States instead of the owner of the Cowboys. Jones quickly stated that he was not trying to make a joke about the effects these injuries have on players. At the University of Arkansas, Jones was an all-Southwest Conference offensive lineman in college. Jones was the co-captain of the Razorbacks 1964 National Championship team. On Thursday, former Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Dorsett joined a group of 300 former players who are suing the NFL, its teams and, in some cases, helmet manufacturer Riddell. "Every day, every day is a challenge," Dorsett told Dallas television station WFAA-TV. "Sometimes it's more so. Just to remember names. You know, Ive been driving down the street sometimes and wondering where the heck am I going."

Is Charles Haley a Cowboy or a 49er?

Hall of famers as a general matter are associated with a single franchise, even when they have bounced around the league. The Hall of Fame’s Board of Selectors will decide tomorrow whether former Dallas coach Bill Parcells and former defensive end Charles Haley will make the Hall of Fame. Should Parcells make it, Giants fans will celebrate more loudly than Dallas fans. He spent...

Harrison has revenge on his mind

Were he still patrolling the Patriots defensive backfield, maybe Rodney Harrison would preach the team’s party line regarding its Super Bowl rematch with the Giants, which basically can be condensed to this:

Dorsett joins concussion suit, reels from concussion

The helmet-to-helmet shot knocked Tony Dorsett out cold in the second quarter of a 1984 Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game, the hardest hit he took in his Hall of Fame NFL career. "It was like a freight train hitting a Volkswagen," Dorsett says now. "Did they know it was a concussion?" he asks rhetorically in an interview with The Associated Press. "...

Harrison: Ex-Pats mates lying if they say they don't want revenge

INDIANAPOLIS - The Patriots have sworn up and down this past week and a half that avenging the Super Bowl XLII loss to the Giants is not a factor in Sunday¹s rematch. Rodney Harrison, who was a safety on that New England team and is now an analyst for...

Rodney Harrison makes emotional plea for Peyton Manning to put health first

Breaking sports news video. MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL highlights and more. Yesterday Peyton Manning was cleared to return to football. I still don’t understand what, exactly, that means. I also don’t know why he’d even consider playing after three neck surgeries involving bones being fused and scary things of that nature. Apparently Rodney Harrison doesn’t either. Harrison, along...
