As it’s quickly become a predominantly passing league, the NFL is stockpiled with young, talented receivers who are ready to take their game to the next level.
One in particular has caught the eye of a former legend.
During an appearance on SportsCenter Wednesday, Jerry Rice gushed over Julio Jones, predicting a breakout year for the 23-year-old Falcons wideout.
“I love this kid,” said Rice. “He’s awesome. He’s big, he’s fast. … I think he’s gonna have a breakout season this coming year.”
It’s easy to see why Rice foresee such an event. After notching 54 catches for 959 yards and eight touchdowns in 2011, Jones’ role is likely to expand under new coordinator Dirk Koetter, who’s expected to re-emphasize the vertical passing game in Atlanta.
With fellow receiver Roddy White drawing attention toward his side of the field — and tight end Tony Gonzalez working the underneath routes — Jones will see his share of single-coverage, a nightmare scenario for opposing defenses.

Former NFL great Jerry Rice believes that Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio jones is poised for a breakout year in 2012.
“I love this kid,” said Rice on SportsCenter, per ProFootballTalk.com. “He’s awesome. He’s big, he’s fast. … I think he’s gonna have a breakout season this coming year.”

Falcons training camp opens July 26th but it feels like that date will never get here. The first pre-season game is Thursday August 9th as the Falcons host the Baltimore Ravens but there is a scrimmage before that date that might interest some of the Falcons fans. On Friday August 3rd, the Falcons will once again take their game to a high school at their "Friday Night Lights...
According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, everything’s been quiet when it comes to cornerback Brent Grimes getting a long-term extension done with the Falcons.
Ledbetter pointed out that the Falcons don’t have enough cap room to get a deal done before next offseason. So Grimes will have to play the 2012 season under the franchise tag...
Though there has been little to no activity between the two sides since Brent Grimes signed his 10.281 million dollar tender in April, ESPN.com’s Paul Yasinskas says that he wouldn’t “rule out” an extension for Brent Grimes from the Falcons before next Monday’s deadline for franchise players to sign long term deals.
Grimes was one of the league’s top cornerbacks last...
While he was on Sportscenter today, Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice named Julio Jones as the receiver who will have a breakout year this season. Normally, things like this are not newsworthy, but if you’re a receiver, there isn’t anyone’s praise you want more than Jerry Rice’s. Jones has unlimited athletic talent and caught 54 passes for 959 yards and 8 touchdowns last...

I think this might be a little different than the money some booster used to slip you after a big game, Roddy.
Look, we’re all for freedom of speech and being able to read everyone’s view on everything on Twitter. But it comes a point where some people need to be stopped from sharing their views on Twitter. And today is that point for Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White.
White used a full 2 hours of his day defending Joe Paterno on his Twitter account today. Something that we don’t...
Let's take another look around the web at some of the more interesting links about the Falcons from the past few days. First let's bask in the awesomeness that is Julio Jones, then check out the links.
