Mark Sanchez threw three touchdown passes, including two to rookie Stephen Hill, and the New York Jets eased concerns about their offense with a 48-28 rout of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The Jets sprinkled in their wildcat package with Tim Tebow, who was mostly quiet but recovered a late onside kick by Buffalo, and Jeremy Kerley had a touchdown catch and a punt return for a score. Antonio Cromartie also took one of New York's three interceptions of Ryan Fitzpatrick to the end zone. It was the most points the Jets have scored in a season opener. That's from a team that had many wondering what to expect after the first-team offense failed to score a touchdown in the first three games of the preseason. Meanwhile, Mario Williams, the Bills' big free agent signing, was quiet as the Jets' offensive line protected Sanchez all game. --- Online: http://bigstory.ap.org/NFL-Pro32 and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL

New York Jets Week 1 Report Card – Dean’s List

Quarterbacks (A) - If Mark Sanchez is completing 70% of his passes and throwing 3 touchdowns on a regular basis, the Jets are going to be one of the toughest teams to beat in the NFL. Sanchez showed accuracy, poise and a short memory after a first quarter interception. He pushed the football down the field and spread it around to seven different receivers, consistently finding the...

Sanchez: One game isn’t the season

Even with his team's dominating win on opening Sunday in the NFL, Jets signal-caller Mark Sanchez is keeping things in perspective.

Sanchez not hesitating, ready to attack

Mark Sanchez isn't running from his critics, instead the Jets starting signal-caller is looking to rally his teammates in preparation for Sunday's season opener.

New York Jets: Mark Sanchez Proves Why He's Starting

Hold the press. Delay the papers. Week 1 of New York Jets' football is in the books and Tim Tebow isn't the starting quarterback yet. That title remains in Mark Sanchez's hands, and rightfully so. With three touchdowns, 266 yards, and one interception in the Jets' season opener against the Buffalo Bills, Sanchez can worry a little less about his job security this...

Mark Sanchez: If Obama can take a joke, so can I

Mark Sanchez is flying high after Sunday's convincing win over the Buffalo Bills and won't let doubters or even cartoonists get him down.  Last night the New York Jets quarterback and a couple of Flight Crew cheerleaders hit a promotional event in Manhattan and Sanchez even joked about being caricatured as a clown in a newspaper NFL guide. Sanchez, Tim Tebow and Rex Ryan...

Initial Reaction – 48 Points And A Barrel Of Laughs, Jets 1-0

While we are happy to say we told you so about the Buffalo Bills being overhyped and the New York Jets remaining the second best team in the AFC East, we certainly can’t say we saw that coming. 48 points? Special teams touchdowns? The Jets looking like a high functioning NFL offense for an entire game? Today was a fun one at MetLife Stadium. Fun, because today demonstrated just...

King of the Hill: Stephen Hill living up to the hype

Stephen Hill of the New York Jets was one of my top five rookie wide receivers to watch in 2012 and he didn’t disappoint this last Sunday with 5 catches for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns is proving the critics wrong. It was fitting for Hill to put up such a big performance, because the entire offseason, he was getting booed and was even becoming part of the blame for the woes of...

Mark Sanchez denies that he was “rattled” by Tim Tebow trade

By Jeffrey Beall A couple of days ago, New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes came out and stated that quarterback Mark Sanchez was rattled when Tim Tebow was acquired in the offseason. Sanchez went on the radio and told Larry Hardesty of ESPN New York 98.7-FM that Holmes made everything seem more dramatic than it really was. “I think (Holmes) made it a little more dramatic...

Bills Embarrassed in Opener at Jets

Jets rookie WR Stephen Hill had a big debut Sunday as he recorded two touchdown receptions. (AP Photo/Bill Kostroun) It’s wasn’t the season opener the Bills were hoping for. That’s about all that can be said about the Buffalo Bills 48-28 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon. In a game that was ugly from the get-go, the Bills could never get going and trailed by as...

The Best of the first Sunday in the NFL

The first week of the NFL always brings about surprises.  The pre season is to find out who’s going to make your team and not necessarily how you use your playbook.  That was apparent when the Jets demolished the Bills at Met Life Stadium yesterday.  New York really didn’t surprise Buffalo with the “Tebown Offense” but did catch them off guard when Joe Namath showed up...

The Tuesday Muse, Week 1: Introductions; The Circus Is in Town; and Other Ideas

Welcome to the Muse.  Each Tuesday morning this NFL season, I’ll wake you up with some thoughts about the past weekend’s games and about the league in general.  There’s no aim at comprehensiveness here—there are plenty of sources for that.  I’m just looking to weave together a free flow of ideas, the kind you have on your couch on Sunday (and Monday, and Thursday)...

NFL Week 1: Just how we thought it would go

From Adrian Peterson, Trent Richardson and Stephen Hill to Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson, we thought we knew what was going to happen during Week 1 of the NFL season. The first Sunday of the NFL season has finally come and gone. While many of us believed we knew what was going to happen, the results were normal for the first week, completely off from what we thought. ...
