The New York Jets have signed unrestricted free agents wide receiver Chaz Schilens and quarterback Drew Stanton. According to league sources, Schilens signed a one-year deal worth $765,000 and Stanton inked a one-year deal worth $1.25 million. The announcements were made Friday by Jets’ general manager Mike Tannenbaum, according to the team’s press release.
Chaz Schilens was originally selected in the seventh round by the Oakland Raiders in the 2008 NFL Draft, a pick received from the Jets in exchange for defensive end Bobby Hamilton, now retired, in 2004.
“I had just really a positive day today,” said Schilens. “It was just too good a place to leave [without signing a contract]. It was a combination of everything that impressed me. The two most important things were the mindset of the coaching staff on where the team is going, and the overall feeling of the commitment of the team to want to win with this great facility.”

After the Jets failed to sign Reggie Nelson, Antonio Cromartie tweeted that he'd be willing to change positions if it would help the team.
It is fair to be disappointed about Reggie Nelson clearly using the New York Jets to jack up the price on the Cincinnati Bengals, who he chose to re-sign with. Nelson is a rangy, athletic player who would have been an immediate upgrade at free safety. However, Nelson is a good…not great player and thus not worth despairing over for too long. It is certainly too early to feel...
The New York Jets signed wide receiver Chaz Schilens and quarterback Drew Stanton to contracts.
Terms were not disclosed for Schilens, who had just 23 receptions despite playing in 15 games last season for the Oakland Raiders.
Schilens has shown promise when healthy, reeling in 72 catches for 902 yards and seven touchdowns since being drafted out of San Diego State in 2008.
Strong safety LaRon Landry has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Jets believed to be worth $4M, according to Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network.
Landry hits like a Mack Truck and could fit in well in New Yorks hard-nosed defense, but was only able to secure a one-year deal with concerns regarding the stability of his troublesome Achilles. So he will have...
LaRon Landry visited the Patriots on Saturday, and the New York Jets today. According to Scout.com he's headed for (up to) three more visits before making a decision.
At the heart of New York's chemistry issues, the rift between quarterback Mark Sanchez and wide out Santonio Holmes clearly attributed to the Jets demise in 2011.
In their biggest free agent splash so far, the Jets came to terms with former Redskins S LaRon Landry today, filling a huge void in Rex Ryan's defense. The deal was confirmed by several sources and reportedly is for one year at $4MM. Many teams have been hesitant to sign the talented defensive back due to a history of injuries including a chronic Achilles' issue.Landry, a...

Stanton tells The Associated Press the deal was agreed to Friday, a day after he arrived to meet with team officials.

Stanton made the most of limited opportunities to play during his first three seasons...
