New York Jets
New York Jets coach Rex Ryan announced Tuesday that offensive coordinator Tony Sparano was fired and defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is leaving the team. It was the first time Ryan has met with the media since the regular season ended. Sparano was let go after just one season. The move comes on the heels of quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh being told Monday that his contract will not be renewed when it expires in a few weeks, as first reported by the New York Daily News. Sparano, the former Miami Dolphins head coach, replaced embattled Brian Schottenheimer last offseason, but was unable to turn around the Jets' offense. New York finished 30th in the NFL in total offense, 30th in passing and 28th in points per game. More troubling has been the continued regression of quarterback Mark Sanchez, who has 52 turnovers over the past two seasons. Sparano and his staff were also unable to find a productive role for Tim Tebow. "I want to be more of an attack-style team,...

With the Buffalo Bills’ recent hiring of Mike Pettine as the new defensive coordinator, much has been made regarding the style of defense that the team will play in 2013. Mike Pettine's reported move from New York Jets defensive coordinator to Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator is lateral by definition, but in reality, it's a step up.Working under head coach Rex Ryan, Pettine was "in charge" of the Jets' defense the past four years, but it was never truly his defense. At least that was the perception. His responsibilities and...
After being photographed shirtless on a beach resort last week, Rex Ryan finally addressed the New York media and answered questions about a peculiar tattoo spotted on his right arm, one that depicts his wife wearing nothing but a Mark Sanchez jersey in a pose that looks strangely similar to “Tebowing.”
What Rex said, according to Business Insider:
He’s had it...
When the New York Jets fired quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh on Monday, the seeds were planted for the removal of offensive coordinator Tony Sparano.
If Cavanaugh was responsible for Mark Sanchez’s personnel development, Sparano was the man who assembled the blueprint for the entire unit’s disaster.

Rex Ryan continues to leave an indelible mark on the New York Jets.
But the head coach also took time at the team's news conference on Tuesday to address his much-discussed tattoo of his wife wearing a Sanchez jersey, something photographers documented while he was in the Bahamas.
The coach said he has had it on his right arm for nearly three years, and was able to joke about...
Now that the Bills have hired former Jets assistant Mike Pettine as their defensive coordinator, many fans have wondered how they are going to utilize their current defensive personnel, which is currently tapered to play a 4-3 style of defense. Dez Bryant is finally getting that pesky finger taken care of. I have already given out the trophy for Breakout WR Of The Year to Dez, so you know I think highly of him from a fantasy perspective. The fact that he played through a broken finger and went off doing so is unbelievable from a teammate perspective. He’s going to be in my top 3 for 2013...
It’s not every coordinator firing that KSK bothers to cover, but not every coordinator is Rob Ryan, a man who never stopped rocking, being real or doing eightballs in the first seat of his 1999 Ford Econoline conversion van. This off-season, both Ryan brothers were almost out of jobs, which would have left this a much poorer league for the sake of depravity. That might sit well...
The New York Jets are continuing to clean house. Today, the rebuilding management fired their offensive coordinator, Tony Sparano.
The move was not surprising considering the Jets terrible season. Since Sparano was hired, many wondered if he was right for the job. With a background as an offensive line coach and no experience with quarterbacks, this was yet another move by the...
