Jets +3 Eagles: Wait, are you kidding?

As you regular readers know, I’m a huge Jets homer but I’m also a pretty knowledgeable bettor when it comes to NFL football. I checked the lines of the NFL games today and to my shock and utter amazement, the New York Jets are 3 point underdogs against the Philadelphia Eagles. Yes, you heard me correct, the 8-5 Jets are UNDERDOGS against the 5-8 Eagles. While the Jets are 3-0 in their last 3 games, the Eagles are 1-2, with their only win coming against the Miami Dolphins.

As a Jets homer, I’d say bet the freaking house on the Jets but you honestly don’t just have to listen to me. Literally every “expert” and commentator I’ve heard has picked the Jets to win outright. From Adam Schein and Rich Gannon, to Peter King, the general consensus seems to be that the Jets are going to win outright and somewhat easily in Philadelphia. So why on Tebow’s green Earth are the Jets underdogs to one of the most disappointing teams in recent NFL history? Maybe because the media is still hyping the Eagles up? Maybe because people don’t realize Sanchez is quietly having a very solid year at quarterback? Maybe because people are forgetting that Shonn Greene is rolling like the compact bowling ball that he is; and he’s about to roll right through the Eagles Swiss cheese defense.

There is no doubt in my mind the Jets are beating the Eagles outright on Sunday, let alone with a +3 point cushion. I’m heading over to Bovada ASAP and betting the house on this game.

Why the Saints will beat the Vikings

My friend Peter Schrager is in denial. He actually thinks he won his upset special last week, picking the Panthers over the Falcons. Last Friday, he emailed me a copy of a Falcons message board chat, where they were scolding noted scribes like Schrager and Peter King for picking the Panthers. When Carolina led big early in the game, he roasted me on Twitter (I'm a loyal follower...

Shonn Greene Giving Jets the Running Game They Need

After struggling earlier in the season, Shonn Greene has run for 295 yards, a 5-yard average and 4 scores in the Jets’ last three games.

Prepare For Heart-Stopping Thursday Night Action

It’s funny because Mike Smith had a heart attack but lived and is still coaching. Yes, yes, we’re horrible people, but you already knew that. If Smith suffers from any further chest pain, Peter King will interrupt the pointless football fun to breathlessly report that he’s gonna be okay and now back to the pointless football fun. As part of the new TV deal that the NFL announced...

December surge transforms Jets RB into a ...

The surge seems almost as predictable by now as winter itself. The temperature drops, and Shonn Greene’s production rises — along with the Jets’ fortunes. Just like last season, and the season before that, the bruising running back is proving December is his month — and not just because of the...

Jets Will Cause Trouble in Eagles’ Red Zone

If they can get there, that is. According to SNY Why Guys, in the red zone: Eagles defense is 30th, allowing TDs about two-thirds of the time. Jets offense is No. 1 at 71.4%, 11-for-11 in their last three games and the NFL’s best since the 2007 Patriots (who went unbeaten and were 72%). Sanchez is throwing TDs on 29% of his red zone passes versus 12% last year, plus he has five...
