The New York Jets (3-3) beat the Indianapolis Colts (2-3) 35-9, yesterday afternoon at MetLife Stadium from East Rutherford, NJ. J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets! Shonn Greene played his best game of the season by running all over the Colts defense. Who needs Mark Sanchez, when you have you ground and pound getting the job done. The Jets rushing offense ran for over 252 yards. That's all they needed against the Colts. In the passing game, Mark Sanchez only threw 82 passing yards, but he had two touchdown passes. Also, Tim Tebow made big plays especially on a fake punt when he a 23 yard pass to Nick Bellore who is a linebacker caught the 23 yard pass for a first down and eventually led to a Jets TD. Game Stats: Passing Mark Sanchez went 11 for 18 with 82 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Tim Tebow made a huge play on a fake punt by throwing a 23 yard pass for a first down and he ran the ball four times for seven yards. Rushing Shonn Greene played his best game all season by rushing the ball 32 times for 161 rushing yards and scored 3 rushing touchdowns. Joe McKnight had 3 carries for 71 rushing yards. Receiving Jeremy Kerley caught 3 passes for 24 yards. Stephen Hill returned from his injury by getting 3 catches for 23 yards and scored a touchdown. Chaz Schilens made 2 receptions for 23 yards. Jason Hill caught a 5 yard pass for a TD. Defense Antonio Cromartie caught an INT and it was his 3rd INT of the season. Ellis Lankster caught an INT as well. Quinton Coples had a best game as a rookie by recording 1.5 sackes for the first time in his NFL career. Muhammed Wilkerson recorded a sack as well. Antonio Allen got his first sack of his NFL career. Aaron Maybin had a .5 sack. Offense/Defense The Jets offense had 22 first downs, 351 total yards (252 rushing yards), went 6 for 12 on 3rd down conversions and went a perfect 5 for 5 in the redzone scoring all TD's. The Jets defense held the Colts to 21 first downs, 298 total yards, only converting 3 times out of 11 on 3rd conversions and didn't give up any TD's. Final Thoughts This was a must win game for the Jets coming into that match and nobody was picking the Jets which shocked me, but Rex Ryan got his team prepared and able for the game. A lot of the fans were chanting for Tim Tebow to play quarterback, evem though the Jets beat the crap out of the Colts all-around in the game. They will be sticking to Mark Sanchez who gives the Jets the best chance of winning ballgames. Putting Tim Tebow at starting QB would be a mistake. As long as they get running game to play like this every week. They will be in great shape on offense. All teams (Jets, Bills, Dolphins, Patriots) in the AFC East are tied in first place at 3-3 heading into next week. Week 7 (Oct 21st) - The New York Jets will play the New England Patriots Sunday evening in Gillette Stadium at 4:25 pm on CBS (TV) and WEPN (Radio).

IT'S NOT EASY BEING GREENE

Shonn Greene was among the NFL's worst rushers entering Week Six, but a career day against the Indianapolis Colts just may have saved his starting job and given the Jets' season new life.

Jets grind out blowout win over Colts

Shonn Greene ran for a career-high 161 yards and three touchdowns to power a rejuvenated ''Ground-and-Pound'' offense that rushed for more than 250 yards, Mark Sanchez was efficient and Tim Tebow made a few big plays in a 35-9 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Even the Jets' maligned defense was able to shut down Andrew Luck and the Colts' offense...

Jets' running game comes to rescue

The New York Jets finally figured out a way to silence the interminable debate about which of their high profile quarterbacks should be throwing the ball on offense. All they had to do was stop throwing the ball so much. It didn't really matter who was under center for New York during the team's 35-9 rout of the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at MetLife Stadium -- though,...

Greene powers Jets to 35-9 runaway over Colts

Mark Sanchez was at dinner with his running backs last week when Shonn Greene's meal arrived at the table. Talk about a heaping helping. ''I think Shonn got the biggest steak you could possibly have,'' the New York Jets quarterback said with a smile. ''He eats like a lineman. He needed it all today, though, so that was good for him.'' Well,...

Article of the Day: Week 6 Recap – Razzball.com

I'm guessing a lot of remote controls made their way through television screens yesterday as Shonn Greene owners that kept the plodding Jet sidelined and RG3 owners that were scared by the late game questionable tag and opted for an alternative are likely looking at a fantasy L this week. Today we present a recap of yesterday's goings on with a fantasy perspective (as if...

Indystar Colts Insider: Jets stay on ground, run all over Indy defense

It was an ugly game, but it's time for some links anyway. Mike Chappell, in his Colts Insider column for The Indianapolis Star, says the Colts had hoped to make the Jets one-dimensional by stopping the run and force the erattic Mark Sanchez to try to beat them.  They just couldn't: "We wanted to put the game in his hands and hopefully get him to make some mistakes...

The gunslinger award: NFL week 5

Week 5 of the NFL season was much calmer for the gunslingers of the league as no one put up a Tony Romo-like 5 interceptions this week. That is still the leader in the clubhouse for best gunslinger performance of the season and I have a feeling that’s going to be a tough one to beat especially considering that Matt Cassel just got injured. However, if I know one thing about gunslingers...

Talk is Cheap

This is going to be a common theme this week. After Richard Sherman's Twitter antics following Seattle's win this past Sunday and the upcoming game against the ever so lovable New York Jets, expect the Patriots to take a lot of heat.Sexy Rexy has already gone on record today stating that "I want them to know and they know that I think we are going to beat them."...

Jets Rookie WR Stephen Hill Plays Hopscotch After Touchdown

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez hit rookie Stephen Hill for a five yard touchdown today vs. the Colts.  After the score, Hill had a pretty nifty little celebration dance, bringing back some old moves from his childhood.   Article found on: Cosby Sweaters

New York Jets Working To Change Perceptions

We are starting to see a new Jets team branding themselves out there, are we not? It’s early in the process we know. After all, Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes just left Gang Green for the year only weeks back. Since then however, this no name bunch of young Jets has teamed up with written off starters like Mark Sanchez and Shonn Greene to battle the then undefeated Texans,...

Indianapolis Colts at New York Jets: Hero and Zero of the Game

It is a well-known fact that the New York Jets have been one of the most talked about teams this season. The controversial franchise has had an equally controversial season, as they have struggled to be consistent through six weeks of the season, but there is hope yet for Gang Green! After coming off a huge victory at home against the Packers last week, the Colts were looking to...

Indianapolis turns focus to fixing defensive woes

Monday's film session isn't changing the opinion of Colts interim coach Bruce Arians. He still saw all those mistakes in full, vivid detail - the missed tackles, the missed blocks, the turnovers and the decision to try and do too much too fast. So one day after yielding 252 yards rushing and 35 points to a New York Jets offense that had scored only 17 points in the previous...
