Jets’ Breece Hall Seemingly Sends Pointed Message To Franchise
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

Even when the New York Jets aren’t playing they are catching strays on social media. During Championship Weekend, it was their own running back, Breece Hall, who was seemingly sending pointed messages to the franchise.

Hall, like every other football fan on Sunday evening, was watching the NFC Championship Game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers. There was a lot of excellent running back play going on in the game as Detroit has David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs and San Francisco has Christian McCaffrey.

The skill set of all three was on full display throughout the game as each had some big plays. But, what should catch the attention of the Jets is the comments that Hall made about Gibbs being used by the Lions.

“The way they [the Detroit Lions] using Jahmyr right now is a RB’s dream,” Hall wrote on X, previously Twitter.

Detroit, with star offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, routinely gets Gibbs into space so that he can use his athleticism and elusiveness to his advantage. The Lions make a concerted effort to get him the ball as a receiver, something Hall took notice of.

Infamously, Hall’s offensive coordinator with the Jets, Nathaniel Hackett, admitted he didn’t know how good of a receiver his running back was until nearly midway through the season. If Hackett isn’t keen on that, what else is he missing as offensive coordinator?

On top of the Gibbs comment, Hall also reposted a comment made by former offensive lineman turned analyst, Damien Woody. Woody commented how some teams ignoring the offensive line is criminal; anyone who has watched the Jets in recent seasons knows that to be a fact.

New York has struggled in the trenches which has torpedoed any chance the offense had of succeeding. A good offensive line could have helped the Jets overcome the talent deficiency they faced at the quarterback position. Instead, that unit was poor, only exacerbating the issues under center.

It doesn’t get much clearer than that. Hall has laid out what he hopes to see from his team in 2024. If the Jets don’t get the job done again, there could be some major changes, including players such as Hall planning their exit from the franchise.
