Found September 05, 2013 on NFL Trade Rumors:
Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that veteran RB Leon Washington worked out for the Jets on Tuesday. Washington also worked out for the Giants on Tuesday as well. Washington, 31, was released by the Patriots not too long ago. He previously spent four years with the Jets, so this would be a reunion of sorts for him. New York could use some help at kick returner now that they’ve parted ways with Joe McKnight and Mike Goodson is suspended for the first four games of the season. GM John Idzik was with the Seahawks when they brought Washington in, so he too is more than familiar with what Washington brings to the tabel. Sanchez won’t be ready until at least Week 3 vs. Bills

It could be a while before Mark Sanchez is capable of even throwing a football again. The Jets quarterback’s shoulder injury is significant enough he is expected to miss the first two weeks of the regular season and may be out longer according to a source. Sanchez injured his right shoulder on Aug. 24 in a preseason game against the Giants. The Jets have said he is “day-to...

Turn On The Jets 12 Pack, Week 1 – Jets vs. Bucs

With the glass half full, the New York Jets are led by a competent Head Coach who is nearly guaranteed to produce one of the league’s better defenses. There is head turning talent on the defensive line, supported by one of the league’s top corners. Offensively, there is nowhere to go but up from last season, when the team managed 6 wins despite horrifically incompetent work from...

ESPN to Retire Mark Sanchez “Buttfumble” (Video)

After it topped the “Not Top 10″ for 40 straight weeks, ESPN will retire Mark Sanchez’ infamous “buttfumble.” Que the jokes about ESPN not covering something about the Jets. Here is their quote: There will be comfort for Sanchez in knowing that the “Butt Fumble” – the Nov. 22, 2012 play in which he stumbled into the backside of offensive lineman Brandon Moore, fumbled...

Jets Weighing The Idea of Placing QB Mark Sanchez On IR?

Kevin Manahan of USA Today reports that a source close to Jets QB Mark Sanchez has informed him that the quarterback ”believes the organization wants to see him placed on (injured reserve) and be done with him.” Manahan’s source added that Sanchez believes the Jets think “it makes it cleaner and easier” that way.” Sanchez is reportedly concerned that the “organization...

Jets owner optimistic about season, supports Ryan

Jets owner Woody Johnson says ''I'm always optimistic'' as his team opens play after a turbulent offseason. Johnson said Wednesday that he didn't have an issue with coach Rex Ryan using quarterback Mark Sanchez behind a backup offensive line in the fourth quarter of a preseason game. Then the presumptive starter, Sanchez hurt his throwing shoulder on a hard...

Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory to split carries Sunday, Ivory to take goal-line work

Bilal Powell may be the Jets starter at running back Sunday but Gang Green’s carries will be split between him and Chris Ivory. Though running backs coach Anthony Lynn couldn’t be sure exactly how the breakdown would look he said he’s keeping in mind that the team plays against the Patriots just four days later. “It depends. It just depends. I’m going to try to get them...

Mark Sanchez believes the Jets want to put him on IR

It should be crystal clear by now that the Jets want the Mark Sanchez era to be over. The problem with that is that the Geno Smith era, in the short term at least, doesn’t look all that promising. And there’s no way that Jets fans will stand for Geno Smith throwing interception after interception while the veteran quarterback that beat him out in training camp stands on the sideline...

New York Jets name Geno Smith starter for Week 1

Rex Ryan has named Geno Smith the starting quarterback for week one when the New York Jets battle the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It seems that Smith didn’t win the job, but rather was given the job because of the injury to Mark Sanchez. Sanchez injured his shoulder against the New York Giants in the Jets third preseason game when Ryan elected to play Sanchez with the backups.  Smith...

Geno Smith to start week 1

Tweet With incumbent Mark Sanchez sidelined due to a preseason shoulder injury (more on that later), the New York Jets are forced to turn to second round pick Geno Smith as their starting quarterback for their season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sanchez was outplaying Smith in the preseason, until head coach Rex Ryan […]

Jets' Milliner ready for debut

Nerves have never been a problem for Dee Milliner. The confident New York Jets rookie cornerback is coming off winning consecutive national championships at Alabama, so the fact he'll step on an NFL field in a real game for the first time Sunday is no big deal. No butterflies. No cold sweats. No kidding? ''I don't get nervous before a game,'' Milliner said...

Throwback Thursday: Jets vs. Buccaneers, October 9, 2005

Throwback Thursday is a feature at Turn On The Jets, where we take a stroll down Jets Memory Lane and reminisce about past great Jets games against the upcoming week’s opponent. (Word to be taken with an enormous grain of salt: “great”) By the time I debuted this feature late last season, the Jets were out of any serious playoff contention. They were 4-7, about to host another...

Revis on Jets: I've moved on

When the New York Jets traded top cornerback and fan favorite Darrelle Revis to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason they opened themselves up to plenty of scrutiny. On Sunday when Revis returns to MetLife Stadium to face the Jets it could provide some clarity into the question of whether the Jets made a mistake in trading one of the league's premier defenders. "I...

EJ Manuel and Geno Smith Named Starters

With only one day left until the beginning of the NFL season, teams are putting the finishing touches on their starting lineups. EJ Manuel of the Buffalo Bills and Geno Smith of the New York Jets were both named starting quarterbacks. Manuel and Smith were the first two quarterbacks taken in the 2013 NFL Draft. The both of them were put in very similar situations. They both had...
