One Jet At A Time:
New York Jets
New England Patriots
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Week 1: vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Going into Week 1, nobody knew what to expect from the Jets offense and defense. The team was/is starting fresh with a rookie QB and a very young defense. Both played well, in their season debuts.
Geno Smith went 24 for 38 (63%), 256 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT, as well as, rushing 6 times for 47 yards. Aside from Geno Smith, the rushing game was very ineffective, compiling only 43 yards on 23 attempts. Geno’s two favorite targets in Week 1 were Kellen Winslow, Jr. (7 rec, 79 yards, and 1 TD) and Stephen Hill (6 rec, 39 yards).
The defense played exceptional and kept Gang Green in the game, as it did game after game in the ’09 and ’10 seasons. The defense held Tampa to 185 passing yards and a mere 65 rushing yards, while forcing 2 turnovers. The defensive standouts for Week 1 were Demario Davis (8 tackles, 1 of them a game-saving tackle) and the rookie, Sheldon Richardson (7 tackles, .5 sack).
My Take: The defense played excellent, the roo...

Geno Smith is eager to get back on the field for the New York Jets after a frustrating loss to the New England Patriots last Thursday night.
The rookie quarterback says Monday he was ''mad at myself'' for some of the mistakes that were made during a ''sloppy'' fourth quarter for the Jets (1-1) in the 13-10 defeat. Smith was intercepted three times...
On Tuesday afternoon, New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez posted a photo to his Instagram page (below) in which he documents how he is receiving acupuncture on his injured right shoulder. This off-season the New York Jets quarterback battle ended when Mark Sanchez was injured in the third preseason game against the New York Giants. What everyone is wondering is who would of been named the starter if Sanchez was not injured?

The New York Jets have waived punter Robert Malone and replaced him with Ryan Quigley, who was in training camp with the team.
Malone, in his second season with the Jets, set the franchise record last year with a 45.8 gross average, and had the second-best net average in team history at 38.5. He beat out Quigley in camp, and had an 84-yard punt in the season opener against Tampa...
Today the New York Jets worked out former Southern Football standout Jared Green. Green was blown away by the facility and staff and seemed extremely happy to have a work out. Green is super fast, and is the son of former lockdown corner Darrell Green. Jared Green @JaredGreenTheWR3s Had a good workout with the New York […]
Darin Gantt of NBCSports reports that New York Jets linebacker, Quinton Coples, is back at Jets’ practice. This is great news for the Jets and bad news for the rest of the NFL. Coples will join a Jets' defense that is already rank third in the league with only 241 yards allowed per game.Sidelined since the preseason with a hairline fracture in his ankle, Coples can only...
I grade each play on a 1 to 5 scale. Loss of yardage is rated a 0, no gain is rated a 1, a gain of 1-3 yards is rated a 2, gains of 4-6 are rated a 3, gains of 7-9 yards or are rated a 4, and gains of 10+ yards are rated a 5. TDs increase your overall grade by 10 points, and fumbles decrease your score by -5. I do it like this to factor in receptions, reward positive...
The NFL, not content to simply penalize dirty hits, is also planning to punish dirty mouths. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that, following fights like Thursday night’s shovefest between the Patriots and the Jets, the league plans to tighten up its policing of profanity on the field. Some referee crews warned players about on-field profanities in Week 1 and will look to use taunting...
Mark Sanchez was placed on the short-term injured reserved list, which will keep him out of action for eight games. Find out what John Idzik had to say about Sanchez’s injury and the Jets’ starting quarterback job moving forward.
Week Two’s Thursday Night Game featured AFC East rivals, the New York Jets and the New England Patriots. The game is always a heated, highly competitive game that always sparks football fans’ interest. This year’s matchup lived up to the hype, turning out to be a nail-biter until the final seconds. Gang Green fell short, losing 13-10, but it was a great leap forward for the Jets.
BY NICK ST. DENISNew York Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson sent fellow rookie Buffalo Bills quarterback E.J. Manuel a Facebook message earlier this week.“I told him we’re after him,” Richardson told the Star-Ledger Monday. “. . . I told him, ‘Hey, make sure you’re in your playbook, man.’”The pair of first-year, first-rounders met at the draft and were selected...
I had the opportunity to check out the kick off of the NFL season with Pepsi in their suite at Met Life Stadium to watch the New York Jets face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The start to the 2013 season is also the kick off of Pepsi’s “Are you Fan Enough” campaign.
Thinking about the question, “Are you fan enough” made me think about what I consider some of the...
If you implemented the wait on a defense plan, then you may be looking for a defense to play this week. I will look at 3 defenses that are owned in less than 50% of Yahoo fantasy leagues and that could be good plug and play options this week.
