PLAYERS:
Rex Ryan
After taking a few months to reflect on his tenure in New York, and perhaps more specifically, how the Jets have fallen short in each of his three years, head coach Rex Ryan sounds as if he'll measure his words carefully going forward. Theoretically, anyway. During an appearance on ESPN New York with Michael Kay, Ryan was asked about the Super Bowl guarantees he had made in previous seasons. I don't know what I accomplished out of it," Ryan said via SportsRadioInterviews.com. "I think if it gave an opponent fuel to the fire then obviously that was a mistake. If it put undue pressure on our team then that was a mistake. Certainly I didn't wanna do it, I wanted to put -- coming off back-to-back championship games all that's left is the Super Bowl. And I thought by guaranteeing that, it would put the arrows on me. Now granted it did, but it also put arrows on our players and I didn't want that. If it was gonna come down, it would come down on me only. That was what I thought would happen, and that didn't happen. It was shot on some of our players and obviously shot at me as well, where it should have been. But it wasn't directed at me, and I think that was my mistake by saying what I said.

Around this time last year, Rex Ryan, as we've come to expect, again declared the Jets Super Bowl contenders, using up enough hot air to fill Times Square.
Fast forward to Thursday, when the once-boisterous head coach took a much different approach, urging his team to become more like their Super Bowl champion co-tenants.

Rex Ryan done making guarantees

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan was a guest on the Michael Kay Show on ESPN Radio. He admitted that making Super Bowl guarantees over the past few seasons hasn’t helped his team, but rather it put unnecessary pressure on them.

Rex Ryan regrets Super Bowl guarantee
It has been an interesting off-season with the New York Jets, but one of the guys not making headlines like he used to is Rex Ryan. The normally boisterous head coach has been relatively quiet, not attracting any attention to himself with the gum-flapping that we all became so familiar with ever since his first [...]
Rex Ryan wears a Devils jersey to Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals (Picture)
Meet Rex Ryan, Devils fan. When the puck dropped to begin the Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday night at the Prudential Center, Rex was in attendance to play the part of big-time coach who supports the other professional sports teams in the area. Having grown up in Toronto, Ryan likely knows a thing or two about hockey. However, he has mentioned being a Maple Leafs fan before. That...

Rex Ryan looked quite dapper while watching the opening game of the Stanley Cup finals
I’m shocked that the caption didn’t read “Rex Ryan: New York Jets Head Coach, Noted Feet Enthusiast.”
The Jets coach and his family took in the opening game of the 2012 Stanley Cup finals, cheering on the hometown Devils in their sweet custom jerseys. Ryan went with the Ilya Kovalchuk sweater, because as everyone knows, Kovalchuk is Russian for “chubby blowhard....

Rex Ryan & His Horny Wife Were At Last Night’s Devils-Kings Game
It’s been nearly two years since we’ve seen Michelle Ryan, the beav spreading middle-aged wife of NY Jets coach Rex Ryan. But there she was last night at Kings-Devils wearing those f-me glasses and her Devils sweater. Gotta figure Rex went home and destroyed those feet after a tough OT loss for the Devils.

Darrelle Revis Doesn't Deny That He'll Hold Out (Again), But Insists He'll Be Ready for Season
Could Rex Ryan once again find himself asking no one in particular "Where's Revis?" That could be the case as Darrelle Revis was asked about the potential of a holdout this season, to which he gave no concrete answer. The Jets cornerback is apparently once again unhappy with his contract. He was asked about the contract Thursday when meeting with reporters. "Here...
Jets to use more 4 man fronts in 2012
The Jets have been a base 3-4 defense for years and that has remained the case under Head Coach Rex Ryan. However, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine says they will be using more 4 man defensive lines in 2012 because it “makes sense.” I agree with Pettine. The Jets’ 4 man line would probably have Sione Pouha and Muhammad Wilkerson at tackle and Quinton Coples and Calvin Pace...
