New York Jets defensive end Claude Davis and cornerback Cliff Harris were cut a day after they were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. The two players, who were signed to reserve-future contracts in January and never played for the Jets, were arrested Monday night in Morristown, N.J., after an officer noticed the vehicle they were in was filled with smoke. According to a release provided by Morristown Police, the officer smelled ''burnt marijuana'' when the driver rolled down his window. Davis, 23, and Harris, 22, were released after being served a summons, but a third person, Daniel Godfrey, 21, of Morristown, was charged with marijuana possession, intent to distribute and possessing a loaded handgun. Godfrey was detained at Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $50,000 bail.

Moon: Tebow won't cut it in CFL

Warren Moon, who spent six seasons in the Canadian Football League, believes that Tim Tebow has no greater chance of success in that league than he does in the NFL.

Jets' Coples moving from DE to OLB

Quinton Coples is moving to outside linebacker for the New York Jets after a solid rookie season at defensive end. The team's first-round draft pick last year out of North Carolina confirmed the position switch Thursday during the Jets' first open locker room media session since last season. Coples led New York with 5 1/2 sacks while playing defensive end and defensive tackle...

Rex Ryan: I want to coach Jets for 20 more years

While speculation has led us to believe his job is on thin ice, Rex Ryan has a different design regarding his future. During an interview with WLNY-TV Friday, Ryan said he hopes to remain the Jets coach for “about another 20 years." In order to achieve that arguably unattainable goal, the team has to perform better than in recent years. And he knows it. “Obviously ...

Sanchez: 'No doubt' I expect to be QB

Mark Sanchez spoke for more than 20 minutes about the New York Jets' crowded quarterback situation, saying all the right things throughout. Yes, he believes he'll be the starter, and, yes, he looks forward to the competition. Then came the question everyone really wanted to know: Hey, Mark, what's up with that headband? ''It's my inner-soccer player,'...

Taiwanese Animation takes on Tim Tebow getting cut by the Jets (Video)

With the news that Tim Tebow was cut by the New York Jets, we all figured that the fine folks over at Next Media Animation in Taiwan would have their own take on it. The below video might be the best thing that you see all week....

Scout: Geno Smith “a spoiled, pampered brat”

Geno Smith’s pre-draft behavior played a part in his fall out of the first round. (AP Photo/Ben Liebenberg) Geno Smith hasn’t had the best time in New York going back to last Thursday. After falling out of the first round, Smith considered not returning to Radio City Music Hall to go on stage when he would inevitably be drafted. Following the draft, Smith fired his agents this...

Mark Sanchez rocked a nifty headband when he met with the media (photos)

Freshly liberated from the soul-crushing environment that was the three-ring circus sideshow that the Tim Tebow Experiment became for the New York Jets last season, quarterback Mark Sanchez finally can relax, but apparently not to the extent where he feels able to let his hair down entirely. Which might explain why Sanchez rocked a nifty little green headband during his interaction...

Mark Sanchez: ‘No doubt’ I expect to win starting QB job

With the additions of David Garrard and Geno Smith this offseason, Mark Sanchez no longer has a stronghold on the Jets’ starting quarterback job. But that isn’t deterring the confidence of the man behind the Butt-Fumble. Per the New York Daily News, Sanchez said Thursday that he expects to top the depth chart and enter Week 1 under center for Gang Green. “No doubt,” Sanchez...

Tim Tebow: Most Appropriate Landing Spots

Never before have we seen someone so celebrated and loved, win a playoff game over a storied franchise, and be traded away like he was nothing to a circus of a team only to sit behind a QB that has no business starting a game in the NFL.  That was, of course, until we met Tim Tebow. Tebow was not only a QB in the NFL, he was a savior.  He inspired millions of people across the...

Cut the crap with Geno Smith (at least for now)

Already piling on Emotional posting. No rational writing here. My feeling. Cut the crap on Geno Smith, media. Kill it, fans. Enough already. Like other Jets fans, I’ve been reading the bad ink on Geno Smith. It’s unavoidable. And it’s getting ridiculous. While I’m not like many other members of Gang Green Nation, passionately obstinate in their  disdain of one Rich Cimini...

On this recent edition of The UC Show, Ed leads off by going crazy on the newly-drafted quarterback of the New York Jets, Geno Smith. See, it’s one thing that Geno didn’t get drafted in the first round. Teams are going to do what’s in their best interest. It’s been like that since day one. With Leather’s Watch This: Our Favorite Exotic Dancers Say Goodbye To Tim Tebow

By now, we all know that Tim Tebow was unceremoniously released by the New York Jets after what can best be described as one pooptastic season with the team. Tebow barely saw the field for anything other than punt protection, and the infamous New York sports media routinely gave him the business, as if he were the sole problem with the franchise. However, lost in the debate as to...
