Richard Owens, who’s been with the team less than a month and has been injured, has been dropped by the Jets in favor of UDFA Rookie TE Kevin Brock, who played collegiately at Rutgers. PROS: Brock is a converted WR with great size and a well-rounded game. Known as a strong blocker with good body positioning and leverage and pad level. Has a good motor, and can catch the ball away from his body. He added 65 pounds in 4 years at Rutgers and is a good all-round athlete for his size and a hard worker. CONS: At times his production can be inconsistent. He is also inexperienced and may still be a little raw technically. ANALYSIS: Mainly a blocker in college, but did emerge as a pass catching threat in his Senior year and has the athleticism to develop in that area … obviously Dustin Keller has the speed and catching skills. He’ll be a stretch to be more than a #2 on any team, but the Jets might provide an opportunity for him. Still, Kareem Brown might be better suited ...
