The Detroit Lions are believed to be very interested in return man/receiver Josh Cribbs. The ex-Brown recently visited Detroit and left feeling like he’d be a perfect fit on a talented roster. But he also left without a contract — and, at least as far as anyone knows, without even a contract offer. That’s been the theme for Cribbs so far this offseason, as he comes back from recent surgery to repair an injured meniscus in his knee. Jets GM John Idzik may have offered some insight into why Cribbs has had such a long wait in finding a team: Idzik said Cribbs isn’t quite there yet after giving him a physical last week. #nyj — Conor Orr (@ConorTOrr) May 14, 2013 The Cardinals nearly signed Cribbs back in March, only to pull back on a potential deal because of Cribbs’ trouble with that same knee. The 29-year-old Pro Bowler will have a hard time getting any sort of guaranteed contract without proving that he’s healthy, and all indications are that he’s yet to do that. The Lions’ need for Cribbs is obvious: Detroit’s return games have been dismal for years, and the franchise sent Stefan Logan packing following a very disappointing 2012. Cribbs might be a special-teams player exclusively, should he come to Detroit.
