Most people feel as though NFL preseason games mean nothing, and Jets fans are hoping that is the case with the way their team has performed thus far. Through three preseason games, New York has scored exactly zero offensive touchdowns. They rank last in the league in total offense and have scored 21 total points. Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow and company are averaging just over 200 yards per game. But it’s only preseason, right?

To give you some perspective, the Patriots rank 23rd in the NFL in total offense through the first three preseason games. It’s safe to say they will finish well above that mark at the end of the regular season barring any significant injuries, but the Jets are working with a new offense. That’s the alarming part for Gang Green.

Will an offense that features both Sanchez and Tebow and a number of Wildcat looks work at the NFL level? It certainly hasn’t in the preseason. At least one Jets superstar has already expressed doubts about the talent the team has on offense, and the way the unit has played has done nothing to ease his mind.

Sanchez has shown flashes of being an efficient passer in past seasons, but you have to wonder if giving Tebow a significant role in the offense is going to stunt his growth. The Jets may be able to run the ball effectively by adding Tebow to the mix, but will they be able to throw it? A mere 99 passing yards per game in the preseason says they wont. But, again, it’s only the preseason so Jets fans shouldn’t be concerned. Okay, maybe just a little.
