It is time for another rebuttal to a story that was a rebuttal to previous stories which was a rebuttal for… Well you get the hint. To follow up yesterday’s story about the Bucs’ 2014 draft picks comes a story from the New York Post saying general manager John Idkzik isn’t even clear what he wants in return from the Bucs to trade Darrelle Revis. According to league sources, Idzik has not been clear with what he wants exactly in return for Revis. The Post reported earlier this week that Tampa Bay was losing patience with the Jets as negotiations have stalled. Sports Ilustrated reported yesterday the Buccaneers may be willing to send their first- and second-round picks in the 2014 NFL Draft to the Jets in exchange for Revis, but the Jets would like Tampa’s first-round pick in next month’s draft. But according to a source, Idzik has not even been clear if including a package with the No. 13 pick next month is enough to get a deal done. Let’s take a look at the last part of that statement. If a package including this year’s 13th pick isn’t enough, what exactly do the Jets want? Theoretically, they will have two first round picks (9th and Bucs 13th) if the Bucs do give up their pick for next month. What more can they possibly want for a player coming off of surgery? The report also goes on to say that the contract offer for Revis from the Buccaneers is in the $15-$16 million per year range. Also going against what was in other reports. Here’s a fact. If a deal is getting done, it’ll get done when both sides come to an agreement on compensation. Not when the media speculates compensation is or will be. However, what is certain is that the Jets in fact may not be clear on Revis’ value. Because if they were, a deal would have already been done. Adding to their dysfunction. The saga continues. The post Jets “not clear” if Bucs’ 13th pick is enough appeared first on The Bay Cave.
