New York Jets owner Woody Johnson says quarterback Mark Sanchez ''is our guy,'' but also wouldn't rule out the possibility of pursuing a veteran such as Peyton Manning if the Indianapolis Colts star became available. Meeting with beat writers for the first time since the Jets failed to make the playoffs, Johnson says in a 30-minute far-ranging interview Thursday that ''barring whatever'' Sanchez would be the team's starting quarterback next season and in the foreseeable future. He adds that there's ''no such thing as 100 percent'' in football, but highlighted Sanchez's age and projected progress as reasons to keep him over a healthy, established winning quarterback - such as Manning. Johnson says disgruntled wide receiver Santonio Holmes will be back, and the offense will be ''more suitable'' to Sanchez's abilities.

Eli Manning: Rethinking The NFL Quarterback Hierarchy

Brought to you by (Joe Montana's Right Arm) While it might be a bit premature to start readjusting our collective thought process regarding the NFL quarterback food chain since Super Bowl XLVI is still three Sundays away, Eli Manning’s win in Green Bay yesterday begs some sort of discussion about who is elite and who is not. During the offseason, Manning suggested...

Woody thinks Sanchez, Holmes can coexist

In his first extensive interview since the Jets flamed out at 8-8, owner Woody Johnson said Thursday that Santonio Holmes is coming back and will be able to coexist with Mark Sanchez -- and also didn't rule out the possibility of pursuing a quarterback such as Peyton Manning.

Remember Indianapolis Colts, Luck Runs Out

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay, isn’t familiar with the old adage, and why would he be?   Just as his current franchise quarterback, Peyton Manning, putters into the twilight of his Hall of Fame-caliber career, along comes Andrew Luck, a two-year media darling that has scouts around the league crying the second...

Eli Can Climb Another Rung This Sunday

Eli Manning's season started with a debate about whether or not he was an elite quarterback and it might end with another debate. It won't be about his elite status as any remaining holdouts have long ago given up that fight. The debate this time will be about whether or not he's the best quarterback in the Manning family. If he wins on Sunday against the 49ers, Eli...

Rob Lowe Says Peyton Manning is Retiring..Yes that Rob Lowe

One of the great things about Twitter is it gives everyone voice. I can get a message out to 100k people (when you include RTs) literally in seconds. With that being said, Twitter has allowed people who normally wouldn’t be consider professionals in certain areas influence opinions and sometimes spread crazy rumors. A lot of times that is someone’s death, but in this case it...

Tom Rock: Another Title Would Put Eli in Exclusive Club

An excellent article from our friend Tom Rock of Newsday…. “When you haven’t won a title as a quarterback, the club of those who have must seem very exclusive. Once you’re in the door, though, it becomes clear that a lot of players can win one. Phil Simms did. So did Jeff Hostetler. Peyton Manning, too. The only way to separate from the crowd is to do it again. Two Super...

Rob Lowe breaks the news that Peyton Manning is retiring. Wait, what?

Wait, Rob Lowe the actor is breaking the biggest story the NFL has seen since Brett Favre's eight retirements before Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen? Something's a little fishy here. Oh, that's right, Lowe has a Lifetime movie debuting this weekend. Breaking this story would LITERALLY be the most diabolical marketing scheme to generate buzz.  I'm...
