Rex Ryan has no message for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots this week. Nope, no fightin' words this time around. After all, the way the usually brash coach sees it, the New York Jets (4-6) need to focus on themselves and ''punch our way out'' of the hole they got into with three straight losses before a 27-13 win Sunday at St. Louis. The victory was a huge boost to the Jets' dim playoff hopes. Now, Ryan's squad has just a few days to prepare for the AFC East-leading Patriots and the teams' showdown Thanksgiving night. Ryan, who has repeatedly expressed his respect for Belichick and his team but has also issued bold statements leading up to their matchups, insists: ''I'm not even worried about tweaking New England or anybody else.'' --- Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL

17 NSFW Patriots Haters Ripping Belichick For Running Up It Up On Colts

The Patriots were up 38-17 on the Colts going into the fourth quarter. They scored :13 seconds later to go up 45-17. Seems to be about a reasonable time to pull some of your starters out, right? Throw in the fact that they have Thursday night divisional game this week, and it seems all but guaranteed. Apparently Bill Belichick didn’t think so. Of course the Patriots went on to...

Rob Gronkowski has surgery after breaking forearm on meaningless play

Only a handful of NFL teams enjoy leads so comfortable that the need to pull its starters presents itself. Let’s face it, the NFL no matter what point spreads may say has done a great job at ensuring parity and each week there’s at least two games that bears this out to be true. But once again New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is under fire for not taking his foot off...
AS THEY ARE WONT TO DO

New York Post covers upcoming Jets-Pats tilt

This is so stupid. First of all, what gives the New York Post even the slightest bit of confidence that the 4-6 Jets now have a cozy match up against the 7-3 New England Patriots. Yeah, Rob Gronkowski won't be playing but it's looking like Aaron Hernandez will. Tom Brady is still under center and the Patriots have Wes Welker and Stevan Ridley as their other two top weapons...

Bill Belichick Makes Case for Adam Vinatieri As Hall of Fame Kicker

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is a man of few words, a coach who will rarely come out and just compliment someone or pronounce where their place in the game should be. But, short of a straight-up endorsement, he advocated in every other way Friday when asked about former New England kicker Adam Vinatieri and whether the sure-footed field goal-maker should have a spot in the Hall...

3's not a crowd but 'ideal' for Jets running backs

Rex Ryan says it's an ''ideal scenario'' for the New York Jets to have all three of their running backs - Shonn Greene, Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight - in the mix for playing time the rest of this season. It has been rare for all three to be healthy and effective in the same game, as they were in the Jets' 27-13 win over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. Ryan...

Cowboys' Rob Ryan ready for Cleveland reunion

Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan doesn't pretend to ignore that the Cowboys are playing Cleveland for the first since the Browns dumped him when they fired Eric Mangini two years ago. Even when he's pretending. ''Honestly, I'm going to say no,'' Ryan said when asked if he had discussed this week's personal motivation with his players. '...

Rex Ryan Defends Bill Belichick’s Decision to Leave Rob Gronkowski In on Extra Point, Calls Criticism ‘Ridiculous’

Rex Ryan and Bill Belichick are supposed to be archenemies. They’re not supposed to exchange Christmas cards, compliment one another on their interesting clothing choices or even swap pleasantries, at least as far as Patriots and/or Jets fans are concerned. But on Tuesday, Ryan broke that code. The Jets head coach actually backed up Belichick on his decision to play Rob Gronkowski...

Rob Ryan ready for Cleveland reunion

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan doesn't pretend to ignore that the Cowboys are playing Cleveland for the first since the Browns dumped him when they fired Eric Mangini two years ago. Even when he's pretending. "Honestly, I'm going to say no," Ryan said when asked if he had discussed this week's personal motivation with his players...

Stephen Hill has been struggling but the Jets will keep throwing him the ball

Coach Rex Ryan said the Jets will “keep throwing” to struggling rookie WR Stephen Hill. Hill went without a catch again in Week 11, the fourth time that has happened this year. He also had another mind-numbing drop. Ryan tried to blame Hill’s illness for the woes. “Sometimes when you have young players, rookie players, and they miss the whole week of practice…you kind of...

No Gronk vs. Jets, but Pats still go as Brady goes

There were no sighs of relief, no jumps for joy when the New York Jets found out they wouldn't have to worry about Rob Gronkowski this week. Sure, the New England Patriots lost perhaps the league's top playmaking tight end for a few weeks with a broken forearm. But Rex Ryan's team knew better than to celebrate. ''I don't know,'' Ryan said, shaking...

Poll: Should Gronk have been in the game?

Rob Gronkowski is likely done for the rest of the regular season, because Bill Belichick left him in to block for an extra point with the team up 58-24.This isn't the first time that Belichick has come under scrutiny for leaving his stars in the game with the game well in hand (see: 2007, season) neither is it the first time a player has gotten injured in a basically meaningless...

No Huddle – Crucial Win In St. Louis Edition

4-6 is not the type of record to go celebrating in the Meatpacking District over. The way New York athletes often do after big victories. Ending a three game skid and moving beyond a “Terrible Tim” storm that threatened to derail focus on the Rams is. The Jets win over St Louis has seemingly calmed the Florham Park madness down for the time being but more importantly, has moved...

Gronkowski hurt on extra point with Patriots up 24 points, 3:59 to go

The New England Patriots have the best tight end in the NFL. So it makes since that he's on the field during an extra point with his team up 24 points with 3:59 to go in the fourth quarter. Except it doesn't. With the way the Patriots have occasionally blown fourth-quarter leads this season, it's understandable coach Bill Belichick wants to stay on the gas pedal and put...

Meast and Least For Week 11

After Rob Gronkowski broke his forearm on Sunday, everyone had a good laugh at the Patriots in general and Bill Belichick in particular for being his usual dickish grumblelord self by running up the score late in a certain victory and having it backfire on him. This prompted Football Outsiders writer and Patriots fan Aaron Schatz to write a pedantic post for Deadspin in which he...
