New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis will have surgery on his torn ACL Thursday and will be placed on season-ending injured reserve, head coach Rex Ryan told reporters Friday. The move clears a roster spot needed after safety Eric Smith sprained his knee in practice on Thursday, forcing him out of Sunday's game against Indianapolis. "I know I had said before about Darrelle that I'd like to wait for him to have surgery before we placed him on IR or not," Ryan said. "Unfortunately with that time situation, you've had Eric Smith being out this week, we're going to need that roster spot." The team planned to fill the empty roster spot with a safety by Saturday. The Jets delayed placing Revis on IR based on the small chance that he could return for the Super Bowl XLVII in February, should the Jets advance that far. "When I said it was a 0.002 percent chance? Well, it's not that high," Ryan said. " ... I was holding out h...

Terrell Owens Just Doesn’t Get It, His NFL Career Is Over Why Would The Jets Take Him?

If Terrell Owens were smart which we all know he is not, he would hang up his football cleats and call it a career. The Jets lining up a corner back at wide receiver isn’t desperate. Remember the guy in Dallas that played both ways? I think his name was Deion Sanders. I don’t care if Ownes took to twitter, sent a telegram, hand a note handed to Rex Ryan or what the case is. The...

Ryan says Sanchez will remain Jets starter "this week"

People are going to read into the wording used by New York Jets coach Rex Ryan when he said on Wednesday that Mark Sanchez will remain the Jets starting quarterback "this week." The fact that Ryan did not commit beyond Sunday's game against Indianapolis may or may not mean anything, but it certainly will fuel speculation about whether Tim Tebow could become the starter...

NFL REGULAR SEASON 2012: REX RYAN (NOT MARK SANCHEZ) IS THE REAL ISSUE BEHIND JETS WOES

Mark Sanchez is a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL. Johnson, Ryan disagreement sets the stage for a clash

The New York Jets are the definition of dysfunction, and the circus is only getting better as time moves forward. In an interview on CNBC, Woody Johnson made a plethora of comical remarks that should raise our eyebrows, but more specifically, he said of the possibility of hanging on to Tim Tebow, "He's going to be with us for three years." Meanwhile, Manish Mehta...

Girardi's 'Wildcat' move pays off big time

Joe Girardi did something Wednesday night that many New York fans think Rex Ryan should have done last Sunday — and the Sunday before and so on — and it paid off in a big way. The New York Jets head coach has the gut, but it was the New York Yankees manager who had the guts to pull slumping $29 million starter Alex Rodriguez and take a chance on pinch-hitter Raul Ibanez in...
