There have been rumors swirling around the future of New
York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis this offseason, but head coach Rex Ryan
said yesterday that there’s “no validity” to trade talks involving the All-Pro,
according to Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com.
"Plain and simple, it's not accurate. I told (Revis)
that," Rex said. "There's no validity to that trade."
The reports of New York’s interest in trading Revis started
when it leaked that owner Woody Johnson was discussing potential deals while
interviewing potential general manager candidates.
But the Jets have yet to receive any phone calls on Revis,
while Ryan and new general manager John Idzik hope to keep the cornerback as a
pivotal part of the team.
Ryan denied the validity of the initial trade rumors, but he
wouldn’t rule out the potential of trading Revis. He said he doesn’t expect
there to be a trade for the cornerback, but did add that “anybody could be
