New York Jets coach Rex Ryan admitted that the team is trying to force the ball to wideout Plaxico Burress.
"We tried to force it (to Burress) when we were up several scores before, but that's not what we're all about," Ryan told ESPN New York on Saturday. "We're just going to hit the open guy."
Burress has recorded just 14 catches for 218 yards and two touchdowns through his first six games.
The 34-year-old Burress signed with the Jets following the NFL lockout. He was released from prison in June after serving 20 months on a weapons charge.
New York (3-3) will host the AFC West-leading San Diego Chargers (4-1) on Sunday.
