Leave it to the Jets to rock the draft.

To a resounding smattering of cheers and boos, Gang Green selected quarterback Geno Smith with their second round selection on Friday night, ending the former Mountaineer's Aaron Rodgers'-like free fall.

It's a gutsy move by new GM John Izdik, one that all but ends the failed Mark Sanchez experiment in the Big Apple.

Smith, a three-year starter at West Virginia, was regarded as the best quarterback in this year's weak draft class, a previous lock to go in the top ten picks. He recorded 42 TDs last season, leading the nation, and has the requisite arm strength and athleticism to thrive in today's NFL.

However, questions remain about Smith's pocket presence and accuracy, both of which could be tested early as the Jets' potential Opening Day starter against, ironically enough, Darrelle Revis and the Bucs.

Look for New York to try to cut ties with Sanchez -- and possibly Tim Tebow -- in the coming months.
