ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Jets have signed former Chargers DT Antonio Garay to a one-year deal.
Garay, 33, was cut loose by the Chargers because of his 2013 base salary of $5 million.
This looks like another quality addition for the Jets as Garay has been a pretty effective interior pass rusher in recent years. It’s doubtful that he’ll be anymore than a rotational defensive lineman for them, but they’re at least bringing in some guys with upside for a limited amount of money. It’s hard to fault new GM John Idzik given the terrible financial situation he inherited.
