Found September 02, 2013 on One Jet At A Time:
As Geno Smith appears to be the Week 1 starter, things have just gotten shakier for Mark Sanchez's hopes to start for the Jets this season.  This latest signing Quinn may confirm that the Jets fear Sanchez's injury is more serious than they initially tried to reveal, as a veteran backup will be needed if Smith becomes this season's permanant QB.  To make room on the roster, the Jets cut QB Graham Harrell. Quinn was drafted in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft, by the Cleveland Browns. He never really caught on as a starting QB, and most recently was with the Chiefs last season, and the Seahawks, this offseason. The #Jets internal fear on Mark Sanchez upon being injured was he'd be out more than the opener. Does the Brady Quinn signing confirm that? — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 2, 2013

Although not better than the used Trojan, Brady Quinn should force the Jets to fire Mark Sanchez

After releasing the immortal Graham Harrell, the New York Jets signed substandard field general Brady Quinn on Monday. Clipped by the Seattle Seahawks last weekend, the 28-year-old Quinn is guaranteed to earn at least the veteran’s minimum of $715,000 if he’s still a Jet on Saturday. Taken out of Notre Dame by the Cleveland Browns 22nd overall in 2007, the journeyman has now...

New York Jets Enter 2013 Season With Big Problems

The New York Jets really have their hands full heading into the upcoming 2013 NFL regular season. It’s not really a question of whether head coach Rex Ryan will be fired, but when.  The Jets entered the 2013 NFL Draft needing to find an immediate starter in the secondary, improve in the trenches on both sides of the ball and try to land a guy who could lead the team and compete...

Quinn's arrival spells the end for Sanchez

Mark Sanchez started his career strong, leading his Jets’ to back-to-back AFC Championship games, but has strung together back-to-back sub-par seasons. His latest struggles have resulted in drafting of a new quarterback in Geno Smith for the future. Now that Gang Green has added a new veteran QB in Brady Quinn, has Sanchez’s future in New York come to an end?

New York Jets announce rookie QB Geno Smith starter Week One

In a move that shouldn’t shock the world, the New York Jets have announced rookie Geno Smith will get the starting nod over veteran Mark Sanchez in week one as they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Smith has been dealing with an ankle injury and the team moved to sign former Green Bay Packers QB Graham Harrell shortly after the rookie suffered his injury. Harrell was released and...

Jets aren't clowning around

In 2012, the word "circus" was often used to describe the New York Jets. The Tim Tebow introductory press conference, the ESPN studio show set up in Cortland for a week during training camp, that Mark Sanchez Thanksgiving-night fumble that was given a now-infamous nickname -- it was one oddity after another. Though they're certainly something, the 2013 New York Jets...

Jets announce Geno Smith to start opener

The Jets did what they had to do this week and what they probably needed to do all along. The team announced that rookie quarterback Geno Smith would start this week which was kind of obvious given the condition of Mark Sanchez’s shoulder — unless Brady Quinn was going to make a late run at the job. The anticlimactic nature of the announcement doesn’t hide the fact this is...

Jets’ head coach Rex Ryan brings his torch to Geno Smith’s camp

Oh the Jets.  The J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!  After flip-flopping like a fat stack at IHOP on which quarterback was who and where, New York Jets head coach, (blah) Rex Ryan, NOW commits to rookie New York Jets QB, Geno Smith. Injuries make predicting an NFL season impossible

The injury bug has already hit a number of teams hard in preseason action. The Buffalo Bills, for example, were hoping to roll out a premier, high-octane offense to kick off the 2013 campaign, but instead they may be rolling out an undrafted rookie quarterback to run their offense against the New England Patriots. They’re not the only team to be hit hard by injuries, especially...
