New York Jets
St. Louis Rams
New England Patriots
For at least one day, the New York Jets halted the downward spiral.
Mark Sanchez was solid for the first time in several weeks, the unquestioned No. 1 quarterback presiding over a turnover-free offense in a 27-13 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
The beleaguered Sanchez was an efficient 15 of 20 passing for 178 yards and a touchdown, while Tim Tebow was merely a footnote. The Jets dominated on defense, too. And New York stopped a three-game losing streak, and will head into a Thanksgiving night meeting against the AFC East-leading New England Patriots with renewed confidence.
Bilal Powell ran for the first two touchdowns of his career, Chaz Schilens scored on a 25-yard reception and Nick Folk kicked a pair of 51-yard field goals for the Jets (4-6), who were outscored 58-16 the previous two games. The Jets overcame a tumultuous practice week with several anonymous players quoted in a newspaper report disparaging the ability of Tebow, who had a handful of snaps but was no factor.
Brandon Gibson caught a pair of short touchdown passes for the Rams (3-6-1), who committed three turnovers and are in an 0-4-1 slump. St. Louis' defense hasn't forced a turnover in five straight games, tying the NFL's longest such slump since 1950 according to STATS LLC.
The Rams were favored for the first time this season, a 3 1/2-point pick coming off an impressive outing in a 24-24 tie at San Francisco a week earlier to beat a team that had been sliding. They've lost two straight at home - three in a row counting a blowout loss to the Patriots in London - after a 3-0 start.
The Jets, moving past blowout losses at Seattle and against Miami, led 13-7 at the half and put it away with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Konrad Reuland's 18-yard catch to the 5, the longest of his career, set up Powell's 5-yard run for a 20-7 lead early in the fourth quarter. Powell, who was questionable after sustaining a concussion against the Seahawks last week, shared carries with Shonn Greene and added an 11-yard TD run that made it 27-7 midway through the fourth quarter.
Gibson's 1-yard catch capped an 86-yard drive on the first possession and his 2-yard grab cut the deficit to 27-13 with 5:40 to go with the Rams failing on a 2-point conversion pass.
Otherwise, Sam Bradford had little success against the Jets secondary while going 23 for 44 for 170 yards with an interception.
The Jets capitalized on a turnover to take their first lead in 10 quarters plus an overtime on Schilens' scoring catch that made it 10-7 with 4:31 to go in the half. Two plays earlier, Muhammad Wilkerson stripped Bradford and Bart Scott returned the fumble 38 yards.
Folk is the second kicker in Jets history with two 50-yard field goals in the same game. He's missed just three of 16 attempts, including a pair of blocked kicks in the last three weeks. Janoris Jenkins got all of the ball to snuff a 26-yard attempt in the first half, leaving the Jets with nothing to show for Eric Smith's interception that gave them possession at the St. Louis 13.
The Jets had been 3 for 3 on fake punts before linebacker James Laurinaitis thwarted a shovel pass from up back Tebow to Lex Hilliard for a 1-yard loss on fourth-and-5 from the Rams 45.
Austin Pettis' 36-yard reception was the highlight of the Rams' opening possession, a 13-play, 86-yard drive capped by Bradford's 2-yard touchdown pass to Gibson on fourth down. Both Gibson and Danny Amendola were wide open in the back of the end zone, making the Rams 7 for 12 on fourth down on the year to that point.

Everyone in New York is breathing a sigh of relief after the Jets snapped a 3 game losing streak…especially the ‘dancers’ at Rick’s “We were worried about Mark Sanchez for a little while there,” said Rick’s Cabaret Girl Christina. “We love the Jets and Sanchez is our quarterback–but he has not been playing well. But against the Rams he...

We’ve gotten to a point – and maybe rightfully so – where Mark Sanchez can do no right in the eyes of some Jets fans. Yesterday, Sanchez played a smart, effective, efficient, well-rounded game. He was sharp, confident...
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan, usually boisterous as can be whenever it's time to take on the New England Patriots, isn't really in the mood for trash talk, seeing that his team is not the contender he thought them to be. Fresh off of convincingly beating the St. Louis Rams, they're not getting ahead of themselves, and rightly so. St. Louis just isn't a good...
Mark Sanchez was efficient all day and the New York Jets defense stopped their old offensive coordinator.
The beleaguered Sanchez presided over a turnover-free performance and the Jets came up with three takeaways against Brian Schottenheimer's new team, snapping a three-game losing streak with a 27-13 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

4-6 is not the type of record to go celebrating in the Meatpacking District over. The way New York athletes often do after big victories. Ending a three game skid and moving beyond a “Terrible Tim” storm that threatened to derail focus on the Rams is. The Jets win over St Louis has seemingly calmed the Florham Park madness down for the time being but more importantly, has moved...
The New York Jets may have saved their season. For now. And may have saved their head coach his job also. For now. In coming to St. Louis and slapping the Rams around the Edward Jones Dome 27-13, the Jets have given themselves a reason to celebrate and keep the New York media off their backs. For now. Here are five things we learned from the game on Sunday:1. New York quarterback...
Since the trade for Tim Tebow and the pictures of him running shirtless in the rain at practice, the talk about the two time college National Champion has faded. As the 3-6 Jets head to St. Louis to face the Rams this week, the reports from New York have informed the public that multiple players on the Jets team have ripped Tim Tebow and openly said they feel like Mark...
JETS OFFENSE KICKS IT INTO HIGH GEAR AS DEFENSE STIFLES SCHOTTY'S RAMS OFFENSE. The Jets managed to put aside the gigantic off-the-field distraction of yet another anonymous player bashing teammates for a convincing win in St. Louis Sunday. Further more, they left their three-game losing streak in the review; riding a trio of running backs and a smothering defense on their difficult...
The New York Jets (4-6) beat the St. Louis Rams (3-6-1) 27-13, today at the Edward Jones Dome from St. Louis, MO.
Good news Jets fans! Gang Green has finally won a football game as Mark Sanchez can shut up critics for at least the couple of days.
Mark Sanchez had an very good manageable game moving his offense downfield and finally OC Tony Sparano drew a good gameplan for once...
ST. LOUIS The New York Jets are still a mess. Postgame talk Sunday of winning becoming contagious might happen or the message could prove more hollow than a gutted pumpkin. There's drama, issues galore and personalities fit for Days of our Lives, so who knows how dark this dreary season will become.
Despite it all, Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez weaved through traffic near...
Jets keep postseason chances alive with win in St. Louis. After coming off their Bye week and losing big in Seattle, the Jets season seemed to been in a tailspin. With two blowout losses in three weeks (MIA, BYE, SEA) and an article released that supposedly shed some light on a divided locker room, the Jets found an escape at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis."Our guys have...
The New York Jets are holding on to the slimmest of playoff hopes thanks to last week’s victory over the St. Louis Rams and the general mediocrity of the AFC. An upset over the New England Patriots this Thursday night could set the table for a late season playoff run, aided by an alarmingly weak schedule the rest of the way. The Jets don’t play a team with a better current record...
The New York Jets season received a shot of life with a 27-13 win over the St. Louis Rams. However, it will take an upset over the New England Patriots this Thursday night to truly make them relevant in the AFC playoff picture again. Here is a collection of early thoughts -
1. The big injury news this week is that Patriots tight end Rob Grokowski will not play because of a broken...

Chris Gross - Jets 23-Rams 17: Can New York turn a week of internal turmoil into enough motivation to grab a road victory in a must win situation? At what point does this team develop a chip on their shoulders for all the doubters and perceived negativity they are subject to, week in and week out? If I am Rex Ryan, my pregame speech is similar to Lou...
