Fox Sports Arizona:
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- Rex Ryan said Friday that the Jets are ''looking into'' the availability of Tim Tebow, who could be inactive for the team's game Sunday against the Cardinals because of two broken ribs that have limited the backup quarterback the last few weeks.
Ryan said that the team has not made a final decision to not play him contrary to an ESPN report.
Tebow was injured at Seattle on Nov. 11, played three offensive snaps the following week at St. Louis and was active but didn't play last Thursday against New England.
Greg McElroy would be the backup to Mark Sanchez if Tebow can't play. Tebow said he didn't do much during practice all week due to throwing still bothering his ribs. Ryan was criticized last week for keeping Tebow active rather than McElroy.

Jets deactivate Tebow for Sunday's game
Backup quarterback Tim Tebow was placed on the inactive list by the New York Jets for Sunday's game against Arizona. Tebow suffered a rib injury several weeks ago and did not play during the Jets' Thanksgiving night beatdown by New England. Coach Rex Ryan hadn't confirmed this week whether Tebow would be sidelined for Sunday's game. In Tebow's place, the Jets...
NFL Week 13 Injury Report: Who Cares If Tim Tebow Plays For The New York Jets This Week Or Not?
The New York Jets have officially listed Tim Tebow as a game time decision for their Week 13 game against the Arizona Cardinals. Recovering from two fractured ribs, it appears highly doubtful that Tebow will play this week. Considering the nature and extent of his injury, it is completely understandable.
What is far more difficult to understand is why this is even a story.
Tebow...
New York Jets must get Alex Smith
The flash in the NFL pan that’s been the Rex Ryan-era New York Jets was finally doused Thanksgiving night thanks to the New England Patriots. Losing to the dominant division foe from up north is one thing, but losing like the way the J-E-T-S Jets-Jets-Jets did is flat-out embarrassing. The fallout has been spectacular. Fan number one Fireman Ed has resigned, the boos have been...

Jets QB Tim Tebow To Be Inactive Vs Cardinals
Tim Tebow will miss his second straight game this Sunday and be inactive for the first time as a Jet, thanks to his cracked ribs, according to an ESPN.com report.
Tebow was active for the Patriots game on Thanksgiving but did not play. With him inactive this weekend, third string QB Greg McElroy now becomes the backup.
Rex Ryan would not confirm the report, saying, "That...
Rex Ryan may stick with Greg McElroy as Jets’ starting quarterback
Rex Ryan indicated after the New York Jets’ 7-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday that he may stick with Greg McElroy as the team’s starting quarterback.
McElroy replaced Sanchez in the third quarter of the game and threw a touchdown pass on his first drive. That was all the Jets needed to win.
Addressing the media in his postgame news conference, Ryan made it seem like...
Jets' defense underwhelming, far from dominant
Rex Ryan expected this to be perhaps the best defense he has had since becoming coach of the New York Jets four years ago.
Instead, it has been a major disappointment and hardly the big, bad bunch the coach sold it as.
Although New York ranks 19th in overall defense, Ryan still won't concede that the Jets will finish worse than fifth. He realizes, though, that his group has...
Jets' Ryan speaks to LB Scott about fan comments
A day after Bart Scott called out heckling fans, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan told the linebacker to remember to ''appreciate'' them and that they ''deserve better'' than how the team has played.

Cardinals FS Kerry Rhodes Refuses To Get Into War Of Words With Rex Ryan
In his 2011 book, Rex Ryan had some unkind things to write about former safety Kerry Rhodes. Ryan referred to Rhodes as a "selfish-ass" player and a "Hollywood type." Rhodes, now with the Arizona Cardinals, will not be making a rebuttal this week.
The Cardinals' safety is keeping quiet and letting the past stay there. Im not going to go that route,...
PREVIEW: NY JETS (4-7) vs. AZ CARDINALS (4-7)
The New York Jets host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in a game where both teams are surprised about where they stand at this point in the season."We feel we're a better football team than our record indicates, and I'm sure they do as well," said Rex Ryan on Wednesday. "They should feel that way. Both teams are hungry for a win, and I think there probably...
Jets Offensive Line Coach Rages at the Media
When it comes to the United State, New York tends to the center of attention. When it comes to the NFL, the Jets, infamously, have become the new center of attention of the league. One not close to football might wonder, “Why are the 4-7 New York Jets, who have lost four of their last five games the head team that the national media wants to talk about?”
On top of having the...
Mark Sanchez Benched for Greg McElroy As Jets Beat Cardinals
Rex Ryan finally figured out what everyone else in the world already knew — if you bench Mark Sanchez, the Jets will win. And win they did.
Granted, the Jets’ 7-6 victory came over the lowly Cardinals — led by overwhelmed rookie Ryan Lindley — but at this point, a win is a win. The Jets were trailing 3-0 midway through the third quarter when Ryan made the change from Sanchez...

Kevin Kolb is likely to be sidelined again this week, which means rookie quarterback Ryan Lindley will get another start for the Cardinals. While Arizona has to feel that this year has slipped away from them, Rex Ryan is determined that his Jets will finish strong enough to slip into the playoffs. At 4-7 they’ll need to run the table, starting this week at home. All five remaining...
New York Jets – Where Is The Pass Rush?
Among the phrases I most frequently utter during a New York Jets game, “We really need a sack right here. When is the last time we got a sack?” is high up on the list. It isn’t just the 2012 version of the Jets who are awful at getting after the quarterback, it has been a recurring trend on the Jets over nearly the past decade. Did you know the last Jets player to register...
