PLAYERS: Tim TebowMark Sanchez
TEAMS: New York Jets
Tim Tebow is a bigger player now than he was before. And, it's not just from being in the New York spotlight. The New York Jets backup quarterback says Wednesday he weighs 249 pounds - about 7-to-9 pounds heavier than last season. He adds that the team would like him to be at 250 to start the season. Tebow wants to be ''strong enough to do anything'' without compromising his speed and agility. The Jets plan to use him in various roles, including in the wildcat-style offense and on special teams as the punt protector. He will mainly serve as the backup to Mark Sanchez, but did take two snaps with the first-team offense near the end of practice. Tebow says there was no special significance to the snaps.

Daily Haze: What Tim Tebow’s Weight Gain Means

It doesn’t really matter that Tim Tebow was traded to the New York Jets and sits behind Mark Sanchez on the depth chart. He’s going to play for this team in some capacity. And that capacity is starting to become more and more clear. Tebow has been gaining weight heading into the 2012 regular season. Normally, you wouldn’t want your backup quarterback to be that big of a guy...

Jets want Tim Tebow to continue bulking up

Tim Tebow has been bulking up this offseason and the Jets would like him to continue to do so. They want him around 250 pounds. Tebow is reportedly pretty close to that weight now and, according to reports, is still in fantastic shape as all of the weight gained has been pure muscle. I wouldn’t expect anything less from someone with Tebow’s work ethic. The Jets’ desire for...

Tim Tebow in the backfield at Jets practice

The New York Jets are ready to use Tim Tebow in any way they can.  During mini camp practice Tebow caught some passes out of the backfield. Tebow ran with the ones on Wednesday but coach Rex Ryan let everyone know there is no quarterback controversy between Tebow and Mark Sanchez.   He says you will see Tebow run with the ones because new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano wants...

Jets want Tebow to bulk up to 250 and more in NFL Daily Digest.

The Incredible Bulk: As a kid you were always told focus on a person’s actions and not their words right? Minicamp roundup: Tebow on backup plan at minicamp

Jets coach Rex Ryan said quarterback Tim Tebow would be running the second-team offense at Tuesday's minicamp practice with Mark Sanchez handling all first-team reps. Ryan continued an offseason theme of heaping heavy praise on Sanchez for his diligent film, playbook and conditioning work. "I think Sanchez has really been impressive," Ryan said. "Obviously,...

New York Jets 2012 Fantasy Football Preview

The New York Jets are a perfect example of how the offseason’s main story lines can have little impact on the fantasy relevance of a team. If you haven’t heard, the Jets acquired Tim Tebow from the Denver Broncos, kicking off a entirely over-dramatic quarterback controversy which most likely doesn’t exist. In this preview, I’ll assume that Mark Sanchez is the starter with...
