There is little doubt that New York Jets corner back Darrelle Revis is the best in the league at what he does. The shut down messiah unfortunately suffered an ACL tear last Sunday, presumably ending his season. Head Coach Rex Ryan has different thoughts in that regard, however, and the Jets will keep Darrelle Revis off injured reserve (IR) in case they reach the Super Bowl:

“Let’s just put it this way. My thought is that if you’re fortunate enough to make it to that big game and he’s fortunate enough to be healthy, I know our fans would want him playing. Just like I would want him playing. I just want to take him through surgery. Let’s get him through the surgery and see what the doctors say when they’re in there and we’ll see what happens.”

To me, that’s a catch 22. The Jets are 2-1 but have struggled this season so far, and I find it difficult to believe they will even come close to the Super Bowl, especially without Revis. It is the NFL and anything is possible, so I won’t sit here and say it isn’t. Revis has been an instrumental part of the Jets success, so it is only fair to keep the option to play open should they actually get to the big game.

Loss of Revis makes Jets' defensive plan tougher for 49ers to predict

The loss of cornerback Darrelle Revis may weaken the New York Jets defense a bit for their game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, but it also creates more headaches for 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman to try to figure out how the Jets will compensate. Rex Ryan and his Jets defensive staff are known for the variety of looks they throw at an offense, and now they...

Jets keeping Revis on active list for now

The New York Jets will not place injured cornerback Darrelle Revis on the injured/reserved list yet, just in case there is a chance he can return from knee surgery this season, coach Rex Ryan said on ESPN New York Friday. Revis tore his left anterior cruciate ligament last Sunday against the host Miami Dolphins. He will not have surgery for a few more weeks because doctors want...

Jets not ready to rule out Revis for season

Rex Ryan says the New York Jets are not ready to place star cornerback Darrelle Revis on season-ending injured reserve in case he recovers from a torn knee ligament in time to play in the Super Bowl. Ryan says Friday that if there's a ''0.0002 percent chance'' Revis, who tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last Sunday, can come back and play...

San Francisco 49ers at New York Jets NFL Week 4 Preview: Revis Island On Vacation

http://www.businessinsider.com/darrelle-revis-out-2012-9 The San Francisco 49ers defense was looking like the best in the NFL by leaps-and-bounds, but they looked human against the Minnesota Vikings of all teams. It was remarkable since Jim Harbaugh always struggled in the Metrodome, and history clearly repeated itself as they were stunned on the road 24-13. Alex Smith looked like...

Wilson's tough task: replacing Revis

The New York Jets were 30,000 feet in the air, flying back home from Miami and already planning for their biggest fear. How in the world are they going to replace Darrelle Revis? Wilson has tough task of replacing Revis for Jets

Darrelle Revis is likely gone for the season with a knee injury, and Kyle Wilson has the tough task of replacing the All-Pro cornerback for the New York Jets. The rest of Rex Ryan's defense will need to step up in a big way, too, starting Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine says no one can ''just step in and replace a Darrelle...

Jets Hit Rock Bottom in Blowout to 49ers

The Jets lined up against the 49er's in MetLife Stadium and played in one of the worst performances in their franchise's history. To make matters worse, the Jets—who have already lost their defensive star Darrelle Revis for the season—lost their offensive star, Santonio Holmes with a non-contact foot injury after making a sliding catch in the 4th quarter."I was going...

Jets have no defense for ugly loss

On Friday, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan invoked the Super Bowl when he explained his decision to leave cornerback Darrelle Revis on the team's active roster, at least for the time being, despite Revis tearing his left ACL last week against Miami. Ryan is probably safe placing Revis on IR now, though, because after the way his team played in Sunday's 34-0 loss to the San...

Santonio Holmes Fumbles Ball Away For 49ers Touchdown After Suffering Non-Contact Knee Injury (Video)

Not even the prayers of Tim Tebow could save this Jets season. Last week, Darrelle Revis went down with a season-ending knee injury, and on Sunday it looked like Santonio Holmes might have suffered a similar fate. At least when Darrelle Revis went down it didn't immediately result in a touchdown. Holmes caught a Mark Sanchez pass and immediately crumpled to the ground holding...

Jets' Dustin Keller expected to play vs. 49ers

The New York Jets have lost cornerback Darrelle Revis for the season, but they should have Dustin Keller back for the first time since the opening offensive play of the season. Dustin Keller made a seven yard catch on that play, but came up lame and didn't return to the game. He has been absent from the lineup since, and his absence has been very noticeable. Going up against...
