There is little doubt that New York Jets corner back Darrelle Revis is the best in the league at what he does. The shut down messiah unfortunately suffered an ACL tear last Sunday, presumably ending his season. Head Coach Rex Ryan has different thoughts in that regard, however, and the Jets will keep Darrelle Revis off injured reserve (IR) in case they reach the Super Bowl:
“Let’s just put it this way. My thought is that if you’re fortunate enough to make it to that big game and he’s fortunate enough to be healthy, I know our fans would want him playing. Just like I would want him playing. I just want to take him through surgery. Let’s get him through the surgery and see what the doctors say when they’re in there and we’ll see what happens.”
To me, that’s a catch 22. The Jets are 2-1 but have struggled this season so far, and I find it difficult to believe they will even come close to the Super Bowl, especially without Revis. It is the NFL and anything is possible, so I won’t sit here and say it isn’t. Revis has been an instrumental part of the Jets success, so it is only fair to keep the option to play open should they actually get to the big game.

Jets don't put Darrelle Revis on IR
Despite Rex Ryan saying there is only a “0.0002 percent chance” he could return this season, the team have not placed Revis on season-ending injured reserve. For now.
