San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh is known to wear his emotions on his sleeve, and that apparently includes events where he is only a spectator. Harbaugh attended Friday night's Oakland A's game at the O.co Coliseum.  Not only did he come prepared with a glove in case a foul ball came his way, but he brought the intense look on his face that we're normally accustomed to seeing while he coaches the Niners on the sidelines. Interestingly enough, Harbaugh seemed much happier when attending a taping of Judge Judy with his father earlier this month.  Must be mentally preparing himself for the upcoming season. H/T FTW. Jim Harbaugh Attends Baseball Game, Still Refuses To Smile

Marcus Lattimore says he will not participate in 49ers training camp

San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore made an appearance on NFL Network this evening, and he was able to provide an update on his rehab progress. I did not get a chance to watch the show, but @InsideNFLMedia tweeted out some of his comments: Marcus Lattimore: I probably won’t do training camp. On course with the trainer… Get a chance to practice mid-season and see...

Faithful Update: Breaking Down the San Francisco 49ers’ Running Backs

CHECK OUT FOOTBALL AND FUTBOL’S BOOKSTORE   For years, even when we were the laughingstock of the league, the Forty Niners had one position that you knew was always going to be solid. The Niners historically have always had good, solid running backs (except that one time when Kevan Barlow played…That was awkward) whether it was Wendel Tyler and Roger Craig in the ‘80s to Ricky...

Quest for Six: San Francisco 49ers’ Wide Receiver Breakdown

CHECK OUT FOOTBALL AND FUTBOL’S BOOKSTORE   For the Forty Niners the position that holds the most questions by far is the receiving corps. Once you get passed newly acquired Anquan Boldin there is question mark after question mark. I wrote in the QB breakdown that the Niners will be OK without Crabtree, who went down on the first day of OTA’s with and Achilles injury. I stand...

WR Ricardo Lockette wants to be as close to Colin Kaepernick on the field as he is with him off of it

It’s kind of cool when you’re vying for the starting wide receiver position for the San Francisco 49ers and the starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick is your roommate. For Ricardo Lockette, it’s the perfect case scenario. Lockette was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent following the end of the NFL lockout in 2011. He signed with the San Francisco...

Unsung Heroes: A Look at the San Francisco 49ers’ Offensive Line

CHECK OUT FOOTBALL AND FUTBOL’S BOOKSTORE I’ve saved the best for last. The wrap-up of the Niners offense ends with the best. And I mean, not just on the team, but possibly the best in football. Everyone who is anyone who knows something about football knows that you win games in the trenches. Offensive linemen aren’t just big pieces of meat. They’re people too! Important...

Ricardo Lockette has the inside track to replace Crabtree

The San Fransisco 49ers lost wide receiver Michael Crabtree to a torn Achilles he suffered during practice and have been looking for ways to replace him. Receiver Ricardo Lockette thinks he has the inside track to the starting job. Lockette tells the Albany Herald that he believes he holds the advantage because he’s the quarterbacks best friend. Lockette says he met Colin Kaepernick...

British Olympic discus thrower Lawrence Okoye says OTAs were ‘the hardest thing I’ve ever done’

Going straight to a NFL OTA program with no background is a rough road to travel. For Lawrence Okoye, the British Olympic discus thrower, ‘It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done.’ NFL football is the pinnacle of achievement for football players, but Okoye got a short cut and an eye opening experience. There is a huge difference from chucking a disc and learning a game...

49ers defensive lineman Lawrence Okoye told England’s Short List magazine that football is the hardest thing he’s ever done. “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, I’m under no illusions,” said Okoye, via the Sacramento Bee. 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio says Okoye is in for somewhat of a surprise once training camp rolls around and they start hitting. ...

LB Aldon Smith isn't worried about setting sack records: 'punching myself in the face at the end of the season if I don’t get it'

Linebacker Aldon Smith 2012 season started blazing hot and cooled down at the end due to a shoulder injury. Smith finished with 19.5 sacks and many think he has the ability to break Michael Strahan's record of 22.5 in 2013. He says the injury hampered him and that he played through pain that did affect his production down the stretch. Smith thinks that he can do it [breaking...

49ers: Aldon Smith Has Sites Set on Michael Strahan’s 22.5 Sacks Record

Despite finishing the 2012-2013 season with 19.5 sacks, Aldon Smith has larger things in his sights for the upcoming season. Among those, the all-time single-season sacks record of 22.5. “It’s a goal, but I’m not punching myself in the face at the end of the season if I don’t get it,” Smith told NFL Network’s Around the League. “I’m young, and I’m learning a lot...

Sponsored: Necessary adjustments by the 49ers

This sponsored post is courtesy of WagerOnSports.com To some, the wounds from the loss to Baltimore Ravens are still fresh in mind; losing money on such a bet should teach one to actively understand NFL wagering strategy. But the fall of the 49ers can’t by any means be used to judge a team that has sorely crushed most of its opponents for at least half of the past season. Either...
