The Carolina Panthers need LB Dan Connor to start making some plays

26-year old Dan Connor has not been much of a playmaker for the Panthers this year.  He has played in 11 games for the Panthers so far this year and he has 56 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss.  Connor has now played in 38 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 137 tackles, 1 sack, 9 tackles for a loss, 1 fumble recovery and 1 pass defensed.  Connor needs to get more...

Jordan Gross questionable with ankle injury

The Panthers began this week missing the entire left side of their line. Guard Travelle Wharton returned Thursday after his lower back loosened up. By Sunday, the Panthers hope to have tackle Jordan Gross back in his usual spot, as well. Gross is questionable for Sunday's game against Atlanta with a sprained ankle he sustained in the win at Tampa Bay. Gross, whose 132 starts...

Cam Newton: Defenses focusing on Steve Smith

Steve Smith began this season with a bang, with five 100-yard receiving games in the Panthers' first half of the season. Opposing defensive backs took notice, and started rolling extra coverage toward Smith. Rookie quarterback Cam Newton is still looking Smith's way, but he's just not been as open as he was earlier in the year. Newton targeted Smith six times in last...

Why the Falcons will beat the Panthers

I love the game we picked this week for our weekly NFL on FOX rivalry rant. In a Ron Pitts and Jim Mora special, it's Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers hosting Matt Ryan and the Falcons in a huge game for the 7-5 Falcons. The hatred runs deep between these division rivals. Cam Newton's had a magical rookie season. The Falcons are coming off of a brutal loss on the road...

Cam on Carolina: 'I'm just trying to get everybody on my level'

Cam Newton has exceeded expectations this season, but his Panthers continue to serve as easy prey for opponents, something the rookie quarterback simply cannot accept.

Coliseum commissioner Ridley-Thomas tied to questionable expenditure

L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas used his position to get $560 worth of Carolina Panthers' tickets at the public's expense. Neither Ridley-Thomas nor the commission reported the gift in financial disclosures. By the time the NFL's Carolina Panthers took the field for the 2009 season, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum had been out of the pro football business...
