NFL Injury Report:
There was a time when the Baltimore Ravens did not seem certain that Joe Flacco would be the quarterback of their future. Of course, they never said this publicly, but the signs were there. Then, suddenly, Flacco led them to the Super Bowl. Now, the Ravens may consider placing the Franchise Tag on the young quarterback. If they do, Flacco will see a nice payday.
According to Mike Florio of NBC's ProFootball Talk, the Ravens will almost certainly franchise Flacco rather than let him hit the open market. Doing so will guarantee Flacco at least $14.6 million. However, the Ravens will likely have to use a modification of the Franchise Tag to ensure Flacco stays with the team, says Florio. And that could equal a $20 million payday.
If a team in need of a quarterback gives up two first round picks, they can sign Flacco right out from under the non-exclusive Franchise Tag. However, if the Ravens modify it to add exclusivity, they will have to pay Flacco more. It still seems like a no-brainer that the Ravens do this.
Teams who lost quarterbacks to injury (Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, etc) would be tempted to pry Flacco away under a normal tag. Teams who simply need an upgrade at quarterback (Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, etc) would be hard pressed to give up two picks, but they might consider it.
This means, Flacco is going to join the ranks of the highest-paid players in the league. As part of the exclusive Franchise Tag, the Ravens would have to pay Flacco the average of the five highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. Thus, the $20+ million figure. He will most certainly be worth it if he steers the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory today.

Joe Flacco's ability to be an elite QB has been questioned all season. I've been one that has doubted his ability all regular season and throughout the playoffs. Has anyone, including me, changed our opinions heading into the Super Bowl?
Joe Flacco started the season by stating he was not only an elite QB, but the best QB in the league. I know some people...
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had a hell of a game in Super Bowl 47, especially the first half, when he threw three touchdown passes and made his team seem unbeatable. For his work — and because the Ravens’ defense didn’t fully crap the bed and let the 49ers come back and win the game — Flacco was named Super Bowl MVP.
After the game, Flacco milled around...
Joe Flacco finished this postseason with 11 Touchdowns, 0 interceptions, a Super Bowl ring, and a Super Bowl MVP award. Sounds elite to me. So now that the season is over, attention turns to Flacco and the Ravens as they now have to attempt to get a deal done because of Flacco’s looming free [...]
Momentum is not actually a determining factor in sports. Nor is manifest destiny, at least not in the way Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis describes it with God wanting Baltimore to win and then making that outcome happen, by, I don't know, planting atrocious, goal-line pass plays in 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman's brain for that final decisive series.
Nice work, God...
Last year during the offseason, Baltimore Ravens' quarterback Joe Flacco was making wild statements about how he was an “elite” quarterback and the best in the business. He really sounded like he belonged in a nut house than on the football field.Flacco has been one of those quarterbacks that has seen more downs than ups over his career even though he manages to get the Ravens...
Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens withstood a furious comeback attempt from the 49ers, a 34-minute blackout and the Destiny's Child reunion to win the Super Bowl.
Ravens fans, you may now exhale, let out a sigh of relief and celebrate. Congratulations to coach John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens on their hard-fought victory.
If you’ve swallowed your breath all game long, please resume back to your normal breathing functions. Though I understand the 2nd half of Super Bowl 47 will indefinitely be reminisced as the most exhilarating fifteen...
Joe Flacco mentioned that he is “pretty optimistic” about finalizing a new contract with the Ravens in the next few months.
“I’m pretty optimistic, but who knows,” Flacco said, per Aaron Wilson. “This is a great organization. I don’t anticipate any problem.”
Last offseason, the Ravens reportedly offered Flacco a contract that would have paid him $16...
New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - Joe Flacco unequivocally proved he belongs with the NFL's elite quarterbacks, while John Harbaugh showed that big brother indeed knows best. And for Ray Lewis, it was the ultimate ending to an absoutely illustrious career.Flacco delivered a lights-out performance -- both literally and figuratively -- at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and the Baltimore...

A power outage at the Super Bowl put the nation's biggest sporting event on hold for more than a half-hour Sunday, interrupting an otherwise electric, back-and-forth game that ended with Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens as NFL champions thanks to a 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Flacco, voted the MVP, threw three first-half touchdown passes to cap an 11-TD, zero...
The knowledgeable fan is the happy fan. Here are a few things to keep in mind on Sunday as you [Beyoncé joke here].
The numbers are from the playoffs only. It makes for a small sample size (three games for the Ravens, and two for the 49ers), but it captures how the teams have performed most recently and in the playoff environment.
