PLAYERS: Joe Flacco
TEAMS: Baltimore Ravens
It didn't take much for the critics to let loose on Johnny Manziel during and after Saturday's season opener for Texas A&M against Rice. Did he get a little cocky? Maybe, but after taking all the crap that he has the last month can you blame him? Especially after he showed fans just why he was the best player in college football last season? I can't. And apparently Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco can't either. Flacco knows a thing or two about the haters and critics. Throughout his career he has been called nothing more than a game manager; someone tasked with not losing the game while the defense wins it. So while the hate may be for different reasons, Flacco--a Super Bowl winner and MVP-- understands what Manziel must deal with. According to someone with the Carrol County Times he thinks pretty highly of Johnny Football too. Joe Flacco on Johnny Manziel: "I feel like now everybody hates him. He's quickly becoming my favorite player in college football" — Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) September 1, 2013 Being critical is easy; everyone does it (too much). Being supportive and speaking out in support of a popular target--not so easy. But it is a whole lot classier. Kudos to you Joe Flacco.

Joe Flacco: Johnny Manziel is becoming my favorite player in college football

Johnny Manziel is one of the most polarizing figures in sports, but he faces more criticism than praise. The Texas A&M star doesn’t exactly work diligently to keep a low profile, so he opens himself up most of it. However, Manziel can sleep well tonight knowing that he has a big fan in Baltimore Ravens […]

Ray Lewis is a conspiracy theorist?

Making sense has never been the strength of Ray Lewis' oration game, but now the retired Baltimore Ravens linebacker is careening past motivational nonsense and into the realm of the conspiracy theory. Remember when the lights went out during Super Bowl XLVII? Lewis says that was no accident. "I'm not gonna accuse nobody of nothing -- because I don't know facts...

Ravens rumors: Baltimore shopping wide receivers

Entering the preseason, many wondered if quarterback Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens would be able to duplicate their productivity considering so many receiver options had been lost since the end of their Super Bowl-winning campaign, including Dennis Pitta and Anquan Boldin. While this appeared to be a concern for the team early on, it apparently no longer is, as head coach...

Ravens shopping young wide receivers

The consensus around the NFL is that wide receiver is a weakness for the Baltimore Ravens as they embark on a defense of their Super Bowl title. The organization doesn't see it the same way. LaQuan Williams released by Ravens...PS8 is signed...

The Ravens need so much help at other positions right now they just couldn't afford to keep LaQuan Williams.  Too bad. LaQuan has the kind of work ethic and contagious enthusiasm for the sport which you'd like to keep around. I remember how LaQuan basically made this team a few years ago by literally walking on to tryouts. He had volunteered to help train his friend and...
