Joe Flacco has never received a ton of attention from the media during his five-year career with the Baltimore Ravens, and there are a number of reasons why. First and foremost, he is not flashy. Flacco has never thrown more than 25 touchdowns or less than 10 interceptions in a season, so his stats have never been outstanding. But for the most part, he has been able to find ways to win. This season, those winning ways have led the Ravens to the Super Bowl. Flacco is finally getting some of the attention many believe he deserves, but he’ll still likely never be Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers when it comes to ESPN coverage. During an interview with the New York Times, Flacco’s father Steve offered some thoughts on why that might be the case. “Joe is dull,” Steve Flacco said. “As dull as he is portrayed in the media, he’s that dull. He is dull.” Now that’s what I call honesty. Steve Flacco also talked about Joe’s wedding photos from a couple of years back that were taken by photographer Jason Prezant (see them here). At the time, the photos created a lot of buzz because they seemed to show Flacco coming out of his shell. The most famous of the bunch shows the Ravens signal-caller pretending to line up at quarterback with his groomsmen spread along the line of scrimmage and his wife ready to snap a bouquet of flowers. There was also another where the bridal party put on 3-D glasses and pretended to be watching a scary movie. Pops is confident Joe was not the mastermind behind any of the photos. “I guarantee none of it was Joe’s idea,” Steve Flacco said. There would be no better way to make a dull man exciting than to have him hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy. If Flacco can lead his team to victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, even he may not be able to hide his enthusiasm. H/T Deadspin Photo Credit: Greg M.
