New York Jets quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith are now clear where they both stand with the infamous Joe Namath.

Smith has quickly become the people’s champ and the assumed favorite to win the Jets starting job as early as training camp.

Not only is Namath not feeling that concept, he feels that the Jets should not have drafted the rookie at all.

While Namath stated that  Smith is a “sensational athlete” with “good size,” he told the New York Daily News that the team had more pressing needs that they should have addressed with the second-round pick.

  • Joe, with all do respect - you were once a good QB (just like Thiesman) but your time is past. Fade of quietly into that goodnight - silently!

Mark Sanchez threw 3 interceptions on Wednesday

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez threw three interceptions during the team portion of today’s organized team activities.  He addressed his poor play after practice. “A couple of those throws I want back,” Sanchez said. “Of all people, freakin’ Snacks, that’s like your worst nightmare. But I was just trying to make a play, that’s...

Jets' Sanchez, Smith not sharp early in QB battle

Mark Sanchez threw three interceptions and Geno Smith talked about having to improve ''every single thing.'' This New York Jets' quarterback competition sure has a long way to go. The two quarterbacks considered the front-runners for the starting job didn't exactly impress Wednesday during the Jets' first practice of organized team activities open to...

Geno Smith hired Roc Nation Sports to represent him

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith told Mike Garafolo of USA TODAY Sports that he’s hired Jay-Z’s agency Roc Nation Sports to represent him. Smith fired his agents after being taken in the second round of last month’s draft, rather than in the top 10. I know many agents are upset over Jay-Z coming in swiping up clients.  Especially since he’s not even an agent himself...

Joe Namath Backs Mark Sanchez, Says Jets Wasted Pick On Geno Smith

Joe Namath seems to have ring and all time great New York Jet protection.  Namath won a championship for the New York Jets, and probably will go down as the best quarterback the franchise has ever had. With such credentials, comes the ability to basically voice his opinion anytime he pleases. Namath is a big supporter of current embattled Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, and told...

Shine Bright: Geno Smith chooses Roc Nation Sports

It’s the ROC for New York Jets new draft pick, Geno Smith. On Wednesday, Smith ended his search for representation with the announcement that he’s rolling with Jay Z’s “Roc Nation Sports.” Smith parted ways with his first agent, Select Sports just days after the draft. In selecting Roc Nation Sports, Smith said it wasn’t about an “image thing.” Roc Nation Sports...

Rex calls Sanchez play unacceptable

Mark Sanchez had an absolutely brutal day today at the New York Jets OTA. He threw 11 passes and completed six, not great but at least it was over 50%. What made his play so unacceptable was that he threw three interceptions and one of those were to an undrafted defensive tackle. “This is OTAs and things, but yeah, that’s going to be the pressure that we’re putting on him...

Report: Jets Teammates Don’t Back Mark Sanchez as Team’s Quarterback, Claims Anonymous Player

During the 2012 NFL campaign, Tim Tebow was ripped by several anonymous Jets teammates in the New York Daily News, creating yet another distraction for the team. Tebow may be gone, but history seems to be repeating itself, this time with Mark Sanchez as the target. A Jets player who asked not to be identified said that the feeling in the locker room is that Sanchez had his shot,...

Turn On The Jets Stock Watch – Non Quarterback, Roster Review Edition

This may come as a surprise to many people out there, but there are going to be 51 other players on this team come September that are not named Geno Smith or Mark Sanchez. I know, I know, that seems crazy based on the media coverage of this team, but believe me, it is true. And not only that, but those 51 players are going to have a major impact on the fate of the 2013 Jets. Of course...

Geno Smith Signs With Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports Agency, But Stresses His Focus Will Be on Football

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Geno Smith has joined Jay-Z for one big sports and hip-hop collaboration. The New York Jets rookie quarterback has chosen the rap artist’s new Roc Nation Sports to represent him. Smith, who slipped out of the first round last month and fell to the Jets in the second round at No. 39 overall, fired his agents — Select Sports — shortly after the NFL draft...

Rex Ryan weighs in on Mark Sanchez’s OTA interceptions

After Mark Sanchez threw 3 interceptions during Wednesday’s OTA practice, naturally head coach Rex Ryan is going to be asked about them. Through the NY Daily News, Ryan calls the interceptions “unacceptable”. While Ryan gives credit to the defense, he is careful not to take the blame off of Sanchez. It’s a good thing defense makes the plays, but no, I’d rather him not turn...

Jets may pick starting QB before training camp

With David Garrard now out of the New York Jets' quarterback struggle, and that's exactly the appropriate word for their situation, the team's starting quarterback options are essentially down to incumbent Mark Sanchez or rookie Geno Smith. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets may pick their starting quarterback before training camp. Offensive...
