The 49ers acquired Staley after trading into the first round with the New England Patriots. The 49ers gave their 2008 1st Round Pick and a 4th Round pick in 2007.
Staley was named the starting right tackle over Kwame Harris in 2007 and has been a fixture on the 49ers offensive line ever since.
Staley was selected to the 2012 Pro Bowl and has been one of Alex Smith’s bodyguards since the start of the 2011 season under Jim Harbaugh.
Staley has watched the drama unfold in the 49ers quarterback battle between Smith and Colin Kaepernick and gave his thoughts when he spoke to 95.7 The Game in San Francisco about Smith and how he is dealing with the situation.
“He wants to play. He made his feelings known yesterday with the comments that he made. He’s itching to play, and he feels he should be out there, but it’s the coach’s decision.
That’s the way he’s handling it. I know it’s eating him up inside, but I know Alex, the kind of man he is, the kind of character he has, and he wan...

Thanks to @hansrasmussen for watching ESPN closely for this solid grammatical error. Actually, “unbeated” does work in that graphic. Kaepernick is 2-0 and unbeated. He’s also non-defeated. Look at the new 49ers QB’s remaining five games; looks like 4-1 or 3-2 at worst. Mr. Unbeated should be just fine.

San Francisco 409ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has announced that Colin Kaepernick will be their starting quarterback going forward.
Jim Harbaugh announces 49ers starting QB: Kaepernick.

From the begining I’ve believe Kaepernick gives the 49ers the best chance to win, so I believe this is the best move for them.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via Evan Silva), there are people around the NFL that believe the San Francisco 49ers will stick with Colin Kaepernick as their starting quarterback and not go back to Alex Smith.
Kaepernick was on a conference call yesterday with the St. Louis media. That could be a sign that he’ll be starting this week.
I really believe Kaepernick is more...
With Colin Kaepernick again effectively leading the offense and a defense that got downright offensive on its own, the 49ers were simply too much for a hot New Orleans team on Sunday afternoon, taking control after halftime on the way to a convincing 31-21 victory over the Saints at the Superdome.
Colin Kaepernick had a lot of help on Sunday, but the 49ers were in great form in a win over the Saints, who are in trouble in the NFC playoff race.

In the NFL it’s often said that success is contagious. Once a franchise taps into a winning formula, it’s used until the well runs dry. This is the case for the San Francisco 49ers and head coach Jim Harbaugh in 2012.
As everyone knows quarterback Alex Smith has seemingly been replaced as the Niners starting signal caller by the more elusive Colin Kaepernick. In doing so...
San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh has yet to commit to either Colin Kaepernick or Alex Smith as the team's starting quarterback. Tight end Vernon Davis thinks Alex Smith should be the one under center.
"It's difficult, but I think Alex is still the man," Davis said after Kaepernick led the 49ers to a 31-21 victory over the New Orleans Saints. "In my...
Colin Kaepernick threw for a touchdown and ran for another, while Ahmad Brooks and Donte Whitner each returned an interception for a score as the San Francisco 49ers downed the New Orleans Saints, 31-21.
Kaepernick completed 16-of-25 passes for 231 yards with the touchdown and an interception in his second career start in place of Alex Smith.
Smith suffered a concussion during...
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith, sidelined since Nov. 11 with a concussion, was cleared to play today against the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome, but Colin Kaepernick is the starter. It will be the second start for Kaepernick, the second-year player out of Nevada, who helped demolish the Chicago Bears Monday night, 32-7. Smith is the only other active quarterback...
Dashon Goldson turned Marques Colston upside down just as the receiver leaped for a pass over the middle.
As Colston landed on his head and lay motionless for several seconds, safety Donte Whitner snagged the deflected pass on New Orleans 42 and weaved his way past Drew Brees and Co., all the way to the end zone.
That was but one of the big plays turned in by a San Francisco defense...
Even though Colin Kaepernick led the 49ers to a win over the Saints, tight end Vernon Davis nevertheless voiced his support for benched starter Alex Smith.

In what surely will result in a hefty fine from the league, Saints DT Brodrick Bunkley did his best Ndamukong Suh impersonation by kicking 49ers OL Alex Boone in the head. He was promptly ejected from game. Via Doug Farrar of Yahoo Sports:With 1:13 left in San Francisco's eventual 31-21 win, the 49ers were set up to kick a 33-yard field goal, but the attempt was blocked by...
Clearly, the 49ers have found something in changing quarterback at 6-2-1 on the season. With Colin Kaepernick at the helm, they are now 2-0 and now among the favorites to win the Super Bowl. However, not everyone agrees. Vernon Davis told reporters this after Sunday’s gritty win over the Saints on the road. “It’s difficult, [...]

This week's Straight Outta Stockton could easily be renamed Straight Outta Aikman as the lead NFL on Fox analyst had a rough time during yesterday's Saints-49ers game. While a few of those are noted below, I have to pay tribute to the work Aikman is doing to the English language. Multiple times during Sunday's telecast, Aikman said "I don't disagree"...
