To fix a problem that plagued him last season, San Francisco 49ers tackle Joe Staley opted to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee during OTAs rather than miss any time in training camp, according to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee.
The scope is considered minor, so Staley will be back soon. He could of passed on the surgery and played throughout the season without the procedure, but better sooner than later we suppose.
Staley gets added to the list of other 49ers that are sitting out of any current activities. Barrows writes:
'That group includes defensive end Justin Smith (arm) and outside linebacker Aldon Smith (shoulder), both of whom are recovering from offseason surgeries. Receivers Michael Crabtree (Achilles) and Mario Manningham (ACL) also were absent. Linebacker NaVorro Bowman, cornerback Tarell Brown and center Jonathan Goodwin are not attending this week's voluntary OTA.
