The Patriots had both Dwight Freeney and John Abraham in for visits on Friday, both could greatly help the Patriots defense, but neither have signed and both are moving on. After Dwight Freeney visits the Broncos tonight, league source says John Abraham's visit to Denver is Thursday — Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) March 20, 2013 Now, this doesn't exactly rule out that either could sign with the Patriots. However, it's not the best sign. If the Patriots really wanted them to stay in New England, you'd think they wouldn't have left. This indicates that either talks didn't go well or the Patriots have an offer out and the two want to see if they can beat it. It's in my opinion that the Patriots need to bring in at least one of those guys. The pass rush should be a number one priority as it hasn't been up to par the past several years. Many blame the secondary of giving up big plays, but games are won up front and by making the quarterback uncomfortabl...

Broncos bringing in Freeney, Abraham

The Broncos are exploring pass rushing options in the wake of Elvis Dumervil's fax fiasco. They're bringing in a few top players.

Report: Steelers Interested In Former Colts LB Dwight Freeney

According to Pro Football Talk, the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of three teams interested in free agent outside linebackers Elvis Dumervil and Dwight Freeney. This isn't the first time we have heard that the Steelers have an interest in Dumervil, but it is the first time that Freeney's name has been linked to Pittsburgh. Mike Florio reports that Dumervil’s decision is...

Broncos rumors: Dwight Freeney, John Abraham to visit

Free agent defensive end Elvis Dumervil will see what the rest of the market has to offer after being less than pleased with the contract proposal he recently received from the Denver Broncos. While the Broncos remain hopeful of reaching an agreement with Dumervil, they are lining up alternatives, as the team is set to host free agent defensive ends Dwight Freeney and John Abraham...

Colts’ 3-4 edge rusher options in the 2013 NFL draft

The Indianapolis Colts parted ways with their most prolific pass rusher in Dwight Freeney, because the 3-4 defense simply doesn’t fit his skill set. However that means the Colts will have to find a 3-4 edge rusher in the 2013 NFL draft that can make Robert Mathis’ job easier next season. So let’s take a look at what the Colts’ 3-4 edge rusher options are, and see if the Colts...

The Patriots out on Dwight Freeney?

The Patriots had Dwight Freeney and John Abraham in for a visit just about a week ago today. The visits didn't result in any signings, and both moved on to meet with the Denver Broncos today. Neither of those visits ended in any commitments either, as it's likely the Broncos were just doing their due diligence in case they lose pass rusher Elvis Dumervil. Dumvervill, of course...

Comparing Dumervil, Abraham and Freeney

The Denver Broncos have expressed interest in three free agent pass-rushers: John Abraham, Dwight Freeney, and their own former defensive end Elvis Dumervil. The Broncos will meet with the first two on Thursday; they have an offer extended to Dumervil at present. So how do these free agent defensive ends compare? Let’s break it down – Player Age Height Weight 2012 PFF Score...

Dwight Freeney, John Abraham Scheduled To Visit Broncos

The Denver Broncos want Elvis Dumervil to return to the fold, but just in case he doesn’t, the team is trying to secure plan A and B. Adam Schefter is reporting that both Dwight Freeney and John Abraham are scheduled to visit the Broncos in the next day or so.  Freeney tonight, and Abraham tomorrow or Friday. Colts free-agent DE Dwight Freeney scheduled to visit Denver tonight...

Ravens Have Expressed Interest In Dwight Freeney As Well

Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports that the Ravens have already ”expressed interest” in free agent DE Dwight Freeney. La Canfora mentions that Baltimore is still in the market for pass-rusher, but only at the “right price.” League sources have informed him that Elvis Dumervil remains the Ravens’ “top target.” There are a few issues with this idea. First, Dumervil...

John Abraham, Sebastian Vollmer, Nnamdi Asomugha Among Top 10 Available NFL Free Agents

We’re one week into free agency, and while many of the top players like Mike Wallace, Aqib Talib and Paul Kruger are off the market, there are still plenty of top players out there who could pay immediate dividends for their new team. The market for cornerbacks has been brutal. That may be why players like Brent Grimes, Nnamdi Asomugha and Antoine Winfield are fighting for the...

Free Agent Defensive Ends: Why No Suitors?

The New England Patriots had Adrian Wilson, John Abraham, and Dwight Freeney come for visits, and the only one to come out with a contract that has a signature on it is Adrian Wilson. In addition, Elvis Dumervil's contract never went through, so he is a free agent. The final big name defensive end available is Osi Umenyiora (who I wrote about signing a while ago). John Abraham...
