Everyone has been playing the role of Monday morning quarterback on Denver Broncos coach John Fox’s decision to take a knee once the Baltimore Ravens tied up the game in the 4th quarter. There were a few questionable play calls and misreads by the team that led to the Ravens tying up the game. John Fox said that he would still make the same call for Manning to take a knee to go into overtime. To make things worse for Broncos fans it seems that one of the all time great comeback quarterbacks, John Elway agreed with Fox’s call. Coach Fox told reporters Monday at the Broncos press conference, “I’d do it again 10 times if it presented itself in that situation.” He continued to say, “You watch a 70-yard bomb go over your head, there’s a certain amount of shock value. A little bit like a prize fighter who gets a right cross on the chin at the end of a round, you’re looking to get out of the round.” John Elway, who is the executive vice president of football operations for the Denver Broncos was also at the press conference. He showed his agreement with Coach Fox when he said, “I thought it was the right thing at that time. I think with where the team was mentally and the situation we were in, I thought that it was a good move.” Unfortunately for the Broncos that move proved to be the wrong choice since the team ended up losing in the game.   Broncos’ owner Pat Bowlen is not as quick to agree with some of the decision making in that game. The Denver Post reported that Pat is going to need a bit of time to get over this loss. He told the Post, “I’m still ticked off. I’ll be ticked off for a month. They’re tough to get over. Especially when you’re in that position and you have that opportunity.” Even though he was venting his frustration on some of the coaching decisions by Fox, Bowlen still says he stands by his head coach.
