Bush League Chronicle:
Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw has apparently been eating well since the Super Bowl. Well, eating a whole lot of the wrong stuff at least. The former University of Alabama player recently cited "personal issues" that prevented him from working out this offseason. Head coach Jim Harbaugh seems to believe those "issues" involve being overweight and eating too much junk food.“He’s working really hard, [but] Courtney’s weight issue – which he does need to lose some pounds – is that he doesn’t eat right,” Harbaugh told the Carroll County Times. “Courtney eats too much, and he doesn’t eat all the right foods. He knows that’s something that he’s going to have to get a handle on or he’s not going to be the best he can be. He’s aware of it. We have everybody in our building involved in it. He’ll be in fighting shape. I promise you that.”Upshaw played his rookie season in 2012 at around 270 pounds. However, Upshaw now says he is tipping the scales at about 285, and he said that needs to change.“Me, I’ve got to drop a couple pounds and get ready for the season,” Upshaw admitted.“My first thought is that he is playing pretty well,” Harbaugh said of Upshaw. “That’s my first thought. He understands the defense exceptionally well. He’s working really hard, [but] Courtney’s weight issue – which he does need to lose some pounds – is that he doesn’t eat right."So, there you have it.Who or what is to blame here? I'm no betting man, but I would venture to say the likes of Taco Bell, McDonalds, and KFC are the culprits, or at least one of their counterparts.Via Pro Football Talk
