He's know for his famous video game, but before being a television analyst, then video game maker, he was a super bowl winning coach. John Madden understands the rigors of a season, and with eight game down, he's not convinced the undefeated Atlanta Falcons are a sure bet to win it all.“I think they have solid players,” Madden said, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “They are solid on offense, solid on defense, special teams, the whole thing. They play very well as a group, as a team."“But at this halfway point, I know they are undefeated. They have the best record. But I’m not really ready to say, ‘OK the Super Bowl is theirs. They are the World Champions.’”Madden isn't feeling the thought the Falcons could go undefeated “But how are they going to do in the playoffs?,” Madden said. “At some point, with the Falcons I think you can be ready to jump into the playoffs and say how are they going to do there and that’s where I would start to have questions.”The Falcons have all the pieces on offense with quarterback Matt Ryan, Michael Turner at running back, Roddy White at the number on receiver position, and graybeard Tony Gonzales at tight end.On defense the Falcons have premier pass rusher John Abraham, up and coming linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, and ballhawk corner Asante Samuel. However, that's not enough to convince Mr. Madden, at least not yet.

The Falcons won a big game last week and continue to roll as the last undefeated team. When will they suffer their first loss?
I'm sitting at 84-49 heading into the weekend. I need to have a huge run to get over .750 for the season.
NY Giants @ Cincinnati - The Giants are coming off a tough home loss last week to the Steelers. I think last...
Atlanta Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon will miss his second consecutive game with an ankle injury, according to D. Orland Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The Falcons leading tackler sat out against Dallas last week and will be sidelined when Atlanta travels to New Orleans this weekend.
Falcons head coach Mike Smith thinks the first round pick in 2010 from...
The problem with this statement is recent history shows us that having the best regular season record or homefield advantage, doesn’t mean as much as it use it.
We saw that with the 2007 Patriots and 2011 Packers, who both were considered juggernaut teams that couldn’t finish the deal in the playoffs.
The Falcons had best record in the NFC and in 2010, then were smoked at...
On the strength of MVP candidate Matt Ryan and a defense that bends but rarely breaks, the Falcons currently stand as the league's only undefeated team.
At 8-0, Atlanta will put their streak to the test against the division-rival and suddenly resurgent Saints on Sunday. If they do get their ninth victory, could the Falcons run the table all the way to 16-0?
Leading up to tomorrow’s game against the Saints, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White has once again made it clear that he doesn’t like them.
“I don’t like nothing about the Saints,” White said, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The colors. The city. Nothing. But they’ve got some good food, though. Other than the food, nothing.”
White says the Falcons know...
Within two days of one another the Atlanta Falcons brought in Mike Nolan to run the defense and Dirk Koetter on the offensive side. I set out to write an article on the top 10 impact players new to their respective teams this season; either via trade, free agency, or the draft. The process got old, quickly, though. The truth is, there have been many… but, my telling you that...
Roddy White thinks the Falcons can go undefeated, but his reasoning behind that belief isn’t so perfect.
The Falcons wide receiver is pointing to the team’s “pedigree” as a reason why they can go 16-0, along with the united nature of the team’s locker room. It might not be the wisest thing to tempt the football gods before a big divisional matchup, but that’s exactly...
Roddy White and Julio Jones are the best wide receiver combo in the league (yes I’ve heard of Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks). Last week the (play) brothers stopped by the Atlanta Falcons D-block show, a web series hosted by the Falcons linebackers. If you haven’t seen the series, make sure you put that on your list. It’s the best sports web series hands down (with Michael...
Last week: 1 (-2)
The Falcons are an undefeated 8-0, but they have not played a tough schedule (it doesn’t really get harder) and they’ve won 5 of their 8 games by a touchdown or less, including 4 at home. They’ve beaten everyone on their schedule and they’ve been able to eke out victories, but at the end of the day, if I’m an AFC team, I’m way more scared...
Atlanta Falcons Wide Receiver Roddy White told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he hates everything about the New Orleans Saints from their city to their colors (Credit: AP Photo)
Earlier this week, Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White said he believes the team has the pedigree to go undefeated this year. Today, he is talking even more trash. This time, he is taking aim...
In what has been considered to be a southern classic rivalry, the (3-5) New Orleans Saints host the (8-0) Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon, at 1 p.m. on Fox television. This matchup will be filled with a lot of emotion, due to the Saint’s bounty scandaling season while the Atlanta Falcons have truly rised up to the occasion
