At first it was a play like nearly any other, Chicago Bears receiver Johnny Knox received a pass from Caleb Hanie (actually, that Hanie got a completion off IS kinda extraordinary) but Knox received a quick pop that jarred the ball loose from his hands. Frantically diving after the fumble, Knox had the unfortunate luck to almost reach the ball at the same time as the Seattle Seahawks' Anthony Hargrove.
The hit bent Knox back in a most incredibly painful looking way.
Fortunately, Knox (while seriously hurt) was not seriously injured. However, he will be having surgery to repair a vertebrae which will knock him out for the rest of the season.
During today’s game against the Seahawks, Chicago Bears receiver Johnny Knox gets hit and bent backwards. He was carted off on a stretcher but was moving his hands as he left the field, so that’s a good sign. We wish him nothing but the best and a safe, full recovery.
WARNING – this is pretty grim:
