Johnny Manziel is one of three finalists invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony on Saturday in New York City, and the Texas A&M freshman quarterback is working on preparing his outfit for the night. If things go as expected, he will become the second consecutive Heisman Trophy winner to wear cartoon socks to the ceremony. KBTX-TV in College Station, Texas, says that Manziel is receiving fashion advice from his uncle for the ceremony. His uncle, Harley Hooper, runs a chain of successful men’s clothing stores in the area. Hooper advised his nephew on his Heisman outfit, and says he is thinking about creating a line of clothing inspired by the man known as “Johnny Football” (good luck avoiding the NCAA on that one!). Though Hooper has recommended that Manziel wear a dark blue suit on Saturday, the A&M QB may add a personal touch to the outfit. KBTX says Manziel may rock some Scooby-Doo socks. Last year’s Heisman Trophy winner, Robert Griffin III of Baylor, wore Superman socks to the ceremony. You might accuse Manziel of biting RG3′s cartoon socks style, but he has a justifiable excuse; Manziel wore a Scooby-Doo costume on Halloween and received plenty of attention for it. It seems like Manziel is embracing the attention he received for the cartoon dog costume. “It was funny to hear Rece Davis call me Scooby Doo,” he told Chris Houston of Heisman Pundit. “A lot of guys on the team dressed up for Halloween. We just wanted to get away from the seriousness and grind and go out and be kids again and just have fun.” See more awesome pics of Manziel in his Scooby Doo costume at Outkick the Coverage.
