Fox Sports Houston:
Despite practicing with his team for the first time since injuring his hamstring against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 2, wide receiver Andre Johnson's status for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars is up in the air.
"If I feel the way I feel today, I probably won't play Sunday," Johnson said after the workout. "But today is not Sunday. We still have some days."
Johnson is recovering from a slight tear in his hamstring that required a minor surgical procedure. While he's been participating in limited drills for several days, he took part in his first full practice session Wednesday. But Johnson said he still feels a tug in the hamstring.
"I wouldn't say I felt great," said the Pro Bowl receiver. "I didn't feel how I expected I would feel, but I was able to go out and make a few plays. I'll just keep progressing day by day."
Johnson did not rule out playing Sunday and said he's hoping Thursday' practice session will yield a better result.
"It's just a process you have to go through," Johnson said. "It's normal for the procedure that I had, and it has gotten better, but right now, today, it's not where we want it to be."
"(The practice) is a huge step forward," coach Gary Kubiak said. "It's just good to get him out of working in his own mode and get him working with the players. I think it's going to be a process this week, but there's obviously a chance (that Johnson plays Sunday)."
The Texans are 1-2 in the games Johnson has missed this season.
Kubiak said tight end James Casey practiced Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday against the Jaguars at Reliant Stadium.
