Joining The Elite

This season's NFL playoffs have been full of surprises to say the least. I mean, who honestly picked the Arizona Cardinals at the beginning of the season to advance to the Super Bowl? One of the pleasant surprises has been Larry Fitzgerald. Through his splendid play he has cemented his place among the league's elite. Truth be told, Fitzgerald was already among the league's elite. The only thing that has changed is his national exposure. He has tremendous hands, he catches everything that comes his way. The only other receivers that join him in that category are Cleveland's Kellen Winslow, New England's Randy Moss & Wes Welker, followed by Houston's Andre Johnson. These 5 players are arguably the league's most sure handed receivers however, there are a few things that sets Fitzgerald apart from the others. 1). Fitz doesn't wait for the ball, he goes and gets it. Folks, that's old school. It's a fundamental that's taught at an early age. 2). He runs excellent routes. He can beat you on crossing routes or the go routes. Lastly, his size. Fitzgerald is today's proto-type wide receiver. He's 6'3" with good speed and athletic ability. All of these things combined makes him a near impossible cover.
