Could Jon Brockman end up playing in the National Football League. Well, here are the facts, we know he is open to it if the NBA doesn't work out. And we know he has the physical stature and ability to be able to succeed in the NFL.Some even have gone far enough to compare him to be the next Antonio Gates. With his college basketball career finished, Jon Brockman will be going on to bigger and better things. He isn't projected to get drafted high, if drafted at all in most mock drafts. He does not have the height or skill set to be a super-effective player at the NBA level.
However, I do believe he can become a long-term "role" player for a lot of NBA teams. He has the work-ethic and the skills of a top-notch rebounder to be a valued contributor on a team. If the NBA doesn't cut it, he could go overseas to pursue his NBA dream, but is that what he really wants? He could also work his way from the NBDL, but is it really worth it?
Will Conroy is tearing up the NBDL and has yet to find a spot on an NBA roster. If Brockman reaches this point, the NFL could be an option. His 6-7, 270lbs frame is the ideal for an NFL tight end. Granted, Brockman probably hasn't played football since he was a little kid, who is to say that he doesn't have the capacity to re-learn the game?
Personally, I don't think Brockman would be able to be effective in the NFL. He isn't a football player, he didn't touch the pigskin once during his time at UW. The upcoming draft camps will show a lot about his current status as a prospective NBA professional.
What's your take on Jon Brockman possibly taking on an NFL career?
