The Green Bay Packers have a chip their shoulder, but the San Francisco 49ers wants to knock it off. Saturday night the two teams will clash to decide who will move on to the NFC championship game. For the 49ers, it is still new territory being a return visitor to the divisional round, However, for the 2010 world champions, it’s terrain they know already, and also what will be...

Little running back coming up big for Green Bay

DuJuan Harris wasn't much of a car salesman. Didn't sell a single one, in fact, in the week he was working at a Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge dealership in Jacksonville, Fla. ''I came close a few times,'' he said. ''I don't want to say I was nervous, but people would ask me about the cars and I didn't know much about it. I was just like, `Man, I'...

Packers must protect Rodgers to beat 49ers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers is capable of making throws under pressure at an elite level. His combination of speed, scrambling ability and arm strength all make it look easy when defenses start caving in the pocket and yet he still rockets a completed pass downfield to a tightly covered receiver. But even a quarterback with Rodgers talent needs time to throw to be most effective...

Packers C Jeff Saturday Says He Didn't Ask To Be Taken Out

Those who watched the NBC broadcast of Saturday’s night Packers-Vikings wild-card playoff game heard commentator Cris Collinsworth discuss how veteran Jeff Saturday lost his starting job late in the season. Collinsworth made it sound like the 37-year-old Saturday went to the coaches and told them he didn’t have what it took to play anymore, but Saturday said that’s not the...

Packers WR Jordy Nelson Not At Practice Again On Wednesday

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Packers were without receivers Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Jarrett Boykin. Nelson's injury has been a mystery since he went out briefly in the Wild Card game against Minnesota, although there was some indication he might have been kicked in the calf. He swore after the game that it was not the knee or ankle he had hurt previously...

Packers aim to match 49ers' physicality

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The physicality of the San Francisco 49ers cannot be questioned. With a defense that ranked second this season in points allowed and third in yards allowed, the 49ers have one of the NFL's elite groups. The Green Bay Packers, on the other hand, are getting plenty of those questions leading into Saturday night's divisional round playoff game. It's been...

Packers' receivers ready, willing open? targets

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- It seemed like it should have been a great day for the Packers' healthy group of wide receivers in the playoff win over the Minnesota Vikings. For the first time since Week 4, quarterback Aaron Rodgers had all of his playmakers on the field together for longer than one drive. But it wasn't Randall Cobb or Greg Jennings or Jordy Nelson or James Jones or...

Packers brace for physical 49ers

Having to tangle with division rival Minnesota twice in a span of seven days wasn't a preferred scenario for the Packers. That they survived the rematch Saturday night with a 24-10 victory over the Vikings in Green Bay to start the playoffs six days after losing 37-34 at Minnesota to end the regular season afforded the Packers a welcomed respite. Green Bay has a full week...

Packers Spread Formations can Keep 49ers’ Willis off the Field

49ers LB Patrick Willis might spend a lot of time on the sidelines if the Packers spread things out. The Packers best bet to to overcome the physicality and viciousness of the 49ers’ defense in Saturday’s NFC divisional playoff game might be to go with four and five wide receivers and spread things out. Yes, the Packers’ running game has shown signs of life in the last month...

Packers expect Cobb, Nelson to play vs. 49ers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Randall Cobb has the flu and Jordy Nelson has an ankle injury, but the Green Bay Packers are about as healthy as a team can be at this point in the season. Even those two wide receivers will be well enough for Saturday night's divisional round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers. "I feel pretty confident the receiver position will be healthy...
