Free agent running back Joseph Addai is expected to sign a deal with the New England Patriots this week, as was first reported by his former Indianapolis Colts teammate Peyton Manning at a charity event. Addai had spent his entire NFL career with the Colts up until now, but with the team in complete transformation mode, many faces have changed places in Indy. Addai is simply the latest.
But the Patriots? Really? I just don’t see it.
New England did allow Benjarvus Green-Ellis to depart for greener pastures – or orange, I suppose – as he signed a free agent deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. That leaves Danny Woodhead, Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen as the other running backs currently on the roster. While none of them may exactly strike fear into the hearts of the opposing front lines and linebackers, they are capable of doing what the Patriots need on offense.

According to a source, former Indianapolis Colts RB Joseph Addai is set to sign with the New England Patriots.
With rumors already swirling around today, a tweet by Indianapolis Star's Mike Chappell broke the news. It was later comfirmed by ESPN.
The 30-year-old Addai ran for 4,453 yards and 39 touchdowns over his career in Indianapolis.
