The Sports Bank:
I’ve always said that Josh Freeman is not a true NFL QB1. At least not for a real team. If Jay Cutler is a “top 15 NFL QB” like Boomer Esiason said, than Tampa Bay Buccaneers signal caller Josh Freeman is a “top 30″ quarterbacking talent.
Today, he faced the train wreck that is the New York Jets, and turned in a 67.9 passer rating and 22.5 QBR stinker. Facing a less than stellar secondary, Josh Freeman couldn’t complete half of his passes. This is the beginning of the end for him in Tampa. They’re going to look elsewhere soon.
Peter King of Sports Illustrated: “Josh Freeman is on trial for his job and he had a very poor opening argument in that trial today…I think there’s a very good chance that we’re seeing the last year of Josh Freeman in Tampa.”
True, but the options for 2013 are limited. You have the boney/lanky rookie out of NC State Mike Glennon. He’s a third round pick in a very weak QB class. This next draft is loaded at the most important position in sports. They should gra

Every professional athlete is supposed to lead to some extent, but no position in sports requires leadership as explicitly as the NFL quarterback.
You're orchestrating the offense, calling plays in the huddle, and generally the most visible member of your squad. Before it was co-opted by Gregg Williams, the quote "Kill the head and the body will die" -- or else, "...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David committed a critical error in the final seconds of Sunday's season opener against the New York Jets that cost his team a victory.
With seven seconds left and the Bucs holding a 17-15 lead, Jets QB Geno Smith was running out of bounds just past midfield. However, as Smith stepped out of bounds, David unnecessarily pushed him down...
TAMPA, Fla. -- The day after, no Tampa Bay Buccaneers defender worried about linebacker Lavonte David's frame of mind. They had witnessed his reaction to one of the opening week's most inexplicable penalties -- "He was definitely upset, and you could see that on him," linebacker Jonathan Casillas said but there was no concern about how the second-year player would...

They can thank Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David for the assist. David pushed Geno Smith after the Jets quarterback had already stepped out of bounds […]
Without much surprise at all, Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis is healthy and ready to go for today’s game against his former team, the Jets.
Not that it's a surprise, but Bucs CB Darrelle Revis will play Sunday against former Jets team, less than 1 year since he tore ACL.

Lavonte David sat on a stool in front of his locker, his head down, trying to make sense of what just happened.
A couple of Buccaneers teammates came over and patted the linebacker on the back. None of it did anything to make his huge mistake go away.

Washington Redskins safety Bacarri Rambo accidentally took out an NFL referee on the sidelines, along with Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan and another assistant, during Monday night's game at FedEx Field. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Darrelle Revis is active and expected to start against his former team, playing for the first time since injuring his knee while with the New York Jets nearly a year ago.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are headed to New Jersey to play the New York Jets in Week 1.
Most are not giving the Jets much of a chance in this one. Tampa Bay is more talented on both sides of the ball and the Jets are starting rookie quarterback Geno Smith under center.
Not that Tampa Bay needs any help but former Jets corner Darrell Revis is even giving away the Jets...

Lavonte David probably cost the Buccaneers a win. David had a late hit penalty on Jets QB Geno Smith with seven seconds left in the game. The penalty put the Jets in field goal range where kicker Nick Folds drilled a 48-yarder for the 18-17 win. Oh my. This one will hurt.

Chicks, this has been a particularly long offseason for the Buccaneers.
This time last year, Bucs fans were prepping for a new start. Greg Schiano was set to begin his first year as an NFL head coach, taking over a team that had mutinied against “players’ coach” Raheem Morris the previous year.
Offseason news centered around the new stringent discipline in place and the...
