Panthers rookie Kealoha Pilares was named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week after his team-record, 101-yard kickoff return in a 49-35 loss to Detroit, the Panthers announced Tuesday. Pilares, a fifth-round pick from Hawaii, notched the Panthers' first kickoff return for a score since Rod "He Hate Me" Smart went 100 yards against New Orleans in 2003.
