Found December 03, 2012 on Steel City Blitz:
There was a time, as recently as 2011, when the Steelers secondary was a big question mark. Between injuries to Troy Polamalu, fines to Ryan Clark, inconsistent play from William Gay and 3 question marks backing them up, things were dicey at best on any given week. That is no longer the case as this 2012 group is deep with young talent and well coached by veteran player and Secondary Coach Carnell Lake. Joe Flacco and the Ravens repeatedly made both Cortez Allen and Keenan Lewis the targets of their aerial attack on Sunday evening. When Ike Taylor left on the first defensive series with an ankle/lower leg injury, the Ravens had to be licking their chops at the chance to put speedster Torrey Smith and big target Anquan Boldin out in their routes. The Ravens immediately went to work on Allen as he was matched up primarily on Boldin. Allen was able to hold his own for the most part in the first half, getting in front of passes or just keeping himself in the play by batting the ball dow...

Steelers To Bring In Free Agent Cornerbacks For Visits; Stanford Routt Signs With Texans

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed during his Tuesday press conference that cornerback Ike Taylor suffered a fractured right ankle early in the win over the Baltimore Ravens and that he will miss a couple of weeks or more as a result. With Taylor now sidelined indefinitely, Tomlin was asked if they will bring in any defensive backs for a work out. "We could...

Steelers’ “Young Money Crew” Needs a Credit Check

I find it almost humorous how quickly articles can change in my mind through the course of a Pittsburgh Steelers’ football game. There were so many things to be critical of as the game wore on yesterday as the Steelers seemed headed for a third straight loss. Despite the fact they won yesterday, I can’t sit here today and wax poetically about everything I saw. In my mind, Mike...

Charlie Batch Can Relish Win Over Ravens

If you saw the moment immediately after Shaun Suisham’s field goal attempt sailed through the uprights to give Pittsburgh a huge win over Baltimore then you know what I’m talking about. Franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger shared an embrace with his back-up Charlie Batch for what seemed like hours. Amongst the heap of towels and stocking caps and winter coats, the two men...

Are The Pittsburgh Steelers In Control Of Their Own Destiny With 4 Games Left In The Regular Season?

It is coming down to the last 4 games of the season for the Pittsburgh Steelers who pulled off the improbable beating the Baltimore Ravens to get to 7-5 on the season and finding themselves in a tie with the Bengals in the AFC North. They got the win with a 37-year-old back up quarterback that goes by the name of Charlie Batch and some mighty fine defense that confused the heck out...

Jonathan Dwyer will remain the Steelers’ starting running back

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has indicated that Jonathan Dwyer will remain their starting running back. #Steelers Tomlin: No change at RB this week, Dwyer starts. “Rashard will get an oppty to redeem himself at some point . . . not now.” — Ed Bouchette (@EdBouchette) December 4, 2012 Dwyer has been the Steelers...

Steelers Injury Report: Ike Taylor Out 3-6 Weeks

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to be without top cornerback Ike Taylor for the next three to six weeks after he injured his right ankle on the team’s first defensive series against the Baltimore Ravens Sunday, reports ESPN. Ike Taylor is expected to miss three to six weeks after injuring his right ankle in the first series against the Ravens on Sunday, a source has...

Parabolic Mic Operator For Steelers Receiver

Charlie Batch had Mike Wallace wide open in the back of the end zone on a third down on the final drive of the first half. Rather than throw it anywhere in the vicinity of his receiver, who had already dropped one open pass earlier in the drive so probably still wasn’t guaranteed to catch it, Batch put it inside the cone of the parabolic microphone operator. A neat bar trick, if...

Report: Steelers CB Ike Taylor Out At Least 2-6 Weeks

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that a source with knowledge of the situation has informed him that Steelers CB Ike Taylor is expected to be out for at least 2-6 weeks after he suffered a right fibula injury during Sunday’s win over the Ravens. Florio’s source adds that there’s “concern that the injury is significant.” This a pretty big loss for Pittsburgh...

Batch earns Steelers' confidence in win

Pittsburgh could get Ben Roethlisberger back this week for a home game against the San Diego Chargers, but the Steelers have confidence in Charlie Batch if he cannot go because of his shoulder and rib injuries. Batch had his best performance in a Steelers uniform when he completed 25 of 36 passes for 276 yards in a 23-20 victory over Baltimore, including rallying the Steelers...

Steelers To Work Out Free Agent CB Stanford Routt

Maybe the fibula injury suffered by cornerback Ike Taylor Sunday in the win over the Baltimore Ravens will keep out a very extended time after all as John McClain from the Houston Chronicle is reporting via Twitter that free agent cornerback Stanford Routt will work out for the Pittsburgh Steelers today. Routt, who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this season, will...
